This week finally my 13" Campagnolo Elektron's arrived from Hungary!
4,7 Kgs each so really lower unsprung weight than my Alpina's. Now I just have to find centercaps with preferably the old M-Sport logo (so not just the striped 'M') or some old BMW-logo. But that probably will end up in producing (or having produced) those myself.
Any one any ideas? It's an old fashion center cap with a circlip to hold it in place:
The diameter is 56,11 mm, which (56mm) seems to be a standard size. I've found these on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for example and then I just have to drop a logo on these but these are plastic ones and I'm not sure how it will hold/look using a more modern system on it.
Furthermore I've resourced original, used and refurbished dustcaps for the bigger tii-brakes in front. Michael Cahsel, a German 02-spezialist, had these 2 in stock (he said it were the last ones and looking at the price I paid they'd better be) and they look splendid:
The rest of the front suspension (struts, coils, dampers) I'll have to refurbish/renew myself prior on mounting them (I've found these as used parts) in the new body which will be finished painting this week.
Learned this week that the back-wishbone/A-arm of a tii don't has a U-shaped profile as my 2002 had but uses as 'sealed' construction for more rigidity. So that's a new item on the wishlist but I could also create this from the existing arms, not sure yet. My local 02-supplier said 'leave it be, it won't hurt' but I'm not sure, better safe then sorry.

The BMW logo hasn't changed. How much did you pay for those wheels? They look nice. I just bought these for $155 today.

Pfff... Don't ask. Way more than your $155, 400 euro's. Yours look nice though, darker rims on a white car (your 02 is the white on the second photo I presume?) always looks good.
The BMW logo has changed somewhat over the years, last change was in 2000:
I would really love the M-sport Roundel (70's & 80's): The M1 had those as a centercap as well. And yes: Those rims were Campagnolo's as well if I recollect correct.

Yes, the white car is mine. It was hard finding rims that wouldn't look stupid on it. Chrome, or really anything bright, doesn't look good with white IMO. You 2002 is really shaping up nicely. I guess the logo has changed over it's history, but if it's an emblem the older one will look exactly the same as the new one. My mom has an '08 e90 and I spent 5mins one day trying to find a difference in the emblems. Couldn't. It would be very cool if you could find or recreate the M-sport roundels. I always loved that design.

My friend's neighbor is the owner of this dealership. I found these on his website. I know you wanted 56mm, but 60s might work if their flush.

I always loved the 'standard E21' rims with darker center steelies they put on the Turbo but those might not go well with you pre-facelift '02 I suppose:
Are your centercaps 56mm as well? If I'll have to re-create something I'd rather do it for 8 (preferably even far more then that if anyone else is interested as well) then just 4.

Wow, these look awesome and exactly what I was looking for! Could you ask him, as a neighbor's friend, where he got them? I really don't think 60mm will work, the 56 is a thight fit. The circlip won't even match 58 mm when unfit. But maybe his supplier will be able to create/deliver a smaller version.

I don't know what size the center caps are, the wheels are in the mail. The one's I bought come with the roundel caps and chrome lugs.

I will try and ask, but I never met him and from what I have been told he's the neighborhood asshole. But, I will keep looking.

Did those caps come on any production BMW. I know there are the m1s caps, but those are b&w and a different shape.

Nope, they only came on the M1 if I remember correct. And you're right: those were black & white:

Received a reply today from Bob's BMW:
All the roundels that we get are from BMW direct. That being said, it looks like the 45mm part number 36131181082, will be the best bet we have. The only downside is that it’s convex, so mounting on a wheel may prove difficult.
I did find both 36131181081 58mm, and 36131181106 57mm, however these are BMW car part numbers, meaning I am unfortunately unable to acquire them. It may be worth contacting a BMW auto dealer about the availability.
So I'm going to contact my local BMW car-supplier this week to see if the 57mm-one will be an option. Not sure what he means with the convex-part?

Cool, if you have trouble with the dealership, I can try and help. I worked at Russel BMW a few years back and could hopefully get a discount too.

Thanx, you got me in the right direction already and I'll try at a European dealership first ;-)

I've checked the partnumbers at realoem.com . They are adhesive logos alright. But not the Motorsport logo, just plain BMW. Damn.

I don't know if it helps, but if you know the emblem was on any production BMW car or bike, you could find it here .
