Audi A6 with brand new transmission and ECU, stuck in limp mode for sale for 4k. If I knew the fix to get it out of limp mode was cheap, I'd jump on this real fast! Anyone have a clue as to what it could be?

Well he replaced the transmission and the ECU trying to fix it. If it was something easy he would have already done it. Most likely this will become a nightmare to the person who next has it.

There are others. Forget this car. It is someones problem. Even if it's small that doesn't mean it is cheap as a best case scenario. Just walk away buddy. $4,000 is a running well price not a problem car price.

The problem is, everyone in St. Louis over values their car by about $2,000. And heaven forbid you try to talk them down.

An AUDI A6. Do yourself a favor and Google "AUDI A6 reliability" and check the price for many of the common problem parts.

It could be in limp mode for something as simple as needs new fuses to disconnect and reconnect battery or it could need a whole new ecu

These weren't the most reliable cars, and the gas mileage is probably shit. If he can't find the problem, or doesn't want to invest in it. He probably just doesn't want to put the ridiculous sum of money into it that it would need.

Limp mode can be triggered by electrical problems. Water leaks into electronics, Tcm connector, It also could be the Solenoid, but since the transmission has already been replaced, then it is probably a different issue. If it needs a new Tcm, that is going to cost just around $2,300.

I wish I still had pictures of it, but I broke my harddrive last year. '99 A6 white 2.8L, had two sets of wheels for it, put in new headlights and that was about it. Wrecked her unfortunately.

aww man that sucks :( I hope you and everyone on board were ok. Although slow and understeer like a mofo, they are for the most parts solid beyond their little common issues. After market wheels? What sizes and offset were they?

I had a set of ADR chrome 19's on Ventus V2' and the 58781's from the '05-'08 A6, pictured here, on Falken Fk452's. I always liked the look of new OEM rims on an older car. Even though the chrome wheels got more compliments (and attention), I preferred the subdued, classy look of the OEM rims. They were wider too. I don't know about the offests. I still have the ADR's somewhere in the garage.

Me and gf were fine from the accident, just a few minor broken bones and scars. Nothing permanent really.

Oh wow, I'm glad you're both ok, sounded bad. Yeah I'm trying to get a hold of some take offs from a newer model. I work at a Merc dealer and some of those fit also. Just not too sure on the offset

He bought it 1 year ago and changed many things that didn't solve the problem + it's been sitting for quite a while, not good. If he's willing to sell it $3k to you, you could have it towed to Audi to see what's going on and make a decision at this point.
