My local Walmart has a decent selection of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. If anyone is looking for particular cars, message me, and I'll try to make a list and check every time I go there. As it is, whenever we go to Walmart, my 5-year old daughter says "Daddy! Lets go get ammo! Ammo! Ammo!" throughout the entire store. :)

I didn't think Larry Kosilla was the type to cheapen his product for Walmart :p

Interesting story... My instructor when I went back to school for machining used to be the head engineer in Mattel, before they sold out. I saw prints for the machines he designed to make Hot Wheels, along with prototypes. He showed us some old cars with pictures inside of them, so you could see things when you looked through the windows. Interesting stuff.

Yeah. Old guy, probably almost seventy, had several jobs, could probably run me into the ground. At first, I was a little incredulous with some of his stories, as I'm a cynic, but he had a huge album book full of photos of the stuff he did... he lived on a sailboat for a few years in Hong Kong for Mattel, as he did work there for them. Saw blueprints, as I said before... they would stamp numerous cars at once, all with his initials in the title blocks.
He also worked for Maglite, Motorola, and I forget the other place. Brought one of fifty gold plated Maglites, made for some bigwigs or something—they had to make them out of brass so the gold would stay.
I would hang with him whenever I had a chance, just to listen to his stories. I'd get pretty pissed when stupid students would bitch about him and shrug him off—that guy forgot more than they'll ever know in a lifetime.
Good times.
