This is an old picture from cars and coffee, around 2011. Dacia Sandero. Why are you here? Why is there no record of you being here? Why do you have Virginia plates?

Well played! I wonder what the story behind this car was then, very strange!

Wish I took more pics, some $kaybait was nearby, and I couldn't resist it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, still, you got a very rare shot!

Now that's just weird. I was thinking it's some sort of Renault press car, like VW's Scirocco in the states.

I'm not doubting that it's a Dacia. It definitely, without question, is a Dacia. What I'm asking is whether or not the Dacia logo is actually there. Sometimes the manufacturers leave out the logos to test cars abroad. Also, was the plate a normal, non MFR plate?

Perhaps it was brought up from Mexico, where it's sold as a Renault , then they swapped the bumper, headlights, and grille out for Dacia parts.

That's a theory. But laws go against it. You can only bring a car over and register it, if it is absolutely identical to a car currently on sale.

Yeah, never seen one before. I'm really curious about it

I do live in Virginia.
![]() 03/14/2014 at 06:25 |

Oh, I misunderstood. The Dacia logos were there. The plate was a standard Virginia plate and there was no state inspection sticker in the window.

Yeah, Nissan could have brought it over, but it doesn't have manufacturer plates.

That's just Bizarre. I can totally imagine someone in Virginia, going to a dealer ship, buying it, still having no idea what they have for the rest of it's life.

which, almost by definition, it won't because of mutually exclusive safety legislation in many jurisdictions.
