I bought a sweet, classicly German, older Blaupunkt Detroit tape deck for my Alfa off eBay over the weekend. Brand new in the box with all of the original parts still in plastic. Too good to be true?
I got the tracking number this morning. Huzzah.
But when I go back into eBay, they show the deck I just bid on, paid for, and had shipped to my house had been relisted. Same photos. Same description. Same seller.
And can I j ust say that every piece of car stereo equipment I've bought on eBay has not worked? The original Sony EB series deck. The Pioneer power amp. The generic Bobco amp (which just had some faulty wiring and was an easy fix). The Kenwood speakers. All promised to be in good working order and fully functional. But none with any refund options. Burn.

Could be some over stock from years ago or whenever they were produced. I've gotten a few rare parts that way, brand new in box, everything still shiny....

Yet you go back? I'm torn on whether to hope it works for your sake, or hope it doesn't, just so you can learn a lesson.

I bought a Blaupunkt cd player about 15 years ago. It was total garbage. I shipped it back to have it fixed twice. The third time it blew up, I went out and bought a Sony

My bet is its for real. Businesses put stuff in warehouses and they just sit around, until they decide to dump the whole lot at pennies on the dollar. I bet these cost him about $5 each, and the seller has 50+ of them. Also, the guy has been selling on Ebay sonce 1999, with 500 transactions, 100% satisfied. I don't think this is an elaborate scam, 14 years in the making, just to rip off your $29.....
Something you may find though it that the cassette player may not totally work. It's got belts that dry up and start slipping, just like my early 80's home CD player just did. Not a lot you can do about that.
But the good news is he claims the units to be 100% working. And this appears to be a standup guy. So if you do end up with a dead unit, he probably has another he can send you. Have fun with your radio.
