...Valleywag. Fleshbot would count, but apparently Denton doesn't want people to think he still owns it.

I feel like this site is much bigger than it actually is.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 13:12 |

Valleywag is a subpage, isn't it?
Also insert friendly, all-in-the-family Jezzie pride here.

Yet jalopnik has the potential to make far more than any other gawker site. They need to find an unobtrusive way to tap into referals.

Funny, I hear that one from my girlfriend...

The Gawker site with the smallest viewcount is actually cink.hu. Not listed anywhere, but it is one of the most crucial sites to Gawker as all the new Kinja developments are used there first (e.g. Kinja 1.2 was introduced months before it was first used at any other Gawker site).
A small Hungarian site, as Gawker was first incorporated in Hungary. It was personally conceived and started by Denton.

*Grumble grumble Jezzie pride*
Valleywag is listed as a stand-alone weblog on Gawker's Wiki page, but yes it is a sub-page. If you search for Valleywag.com global rank it comes in around 8,000,000 but searching as a sub-page (Valleywag.gawker.com) has it listed as #647, which would mean Jalopnik is the least visited/viewed Gawker property :'(

So?
![]() 03/11/2014 at 13:20 |

Good to know. Wonder why it's not listed under their weblogs...

The existence of such a thing could shock a few users of this site.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 13:21 |

SO WE'RE DOOMED! DOOMED I TELL YA!
But really, it probably explains why we're always guinea pigs for the Kinja updates. Piss off the least amount of people possible.

Most likely they went the jingoist way and excluded it for being foreign.

Hmmmm... Actually, now that I think of it... I hardly ever visit the fp anymore.

Jalopnik needs more inflammatory headlines if it wants more page views. Some suggestions:
Automatic Transmissions are Literally the Patriarchy
We Need a Maximum Horsepower Rating
Do Women REALLY Like Cars?
F*** Minivans
Dear Straight People, Learn How To Turn Properly
Here's Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Penis

Probably one of the most vocal commentariats. I can confirm that even unique views on my Jez articles don't translate into many comments at all.
Jalopnik's commenting base is quite verbose.

This is gold. Expect an email from Wert in a few minutes...
![]() 03/11/2014 at 13:23 |

That's because we argue about cars and can't agree on anything. A BMW article is half praise/half complaining.

Praise!

Ha! Do you mind if I share this to Groupthink? We enjoy a good mocking of the ridiculous Jez headlines as much as anyone...

Go for it. I may even throw in $10,000 if the picture of Dale's penis isn't altered.

How to look Grace Kelly chic while driving in a convertible
(trust me, the response to that would be more controversial than you'd think)

The percentage of pieces of shit who hang out here is much fewer than any other Gawker sites, hands down we have the best commenter base. Also, Jalop doesn't really conform to the rest of the Gawker's sites attitude. Jason and Patrick have both told other writers to shut the fuck outright. Plus they/we aren't into slander and gossip. AND writers here actually know what the hell they are talking about, all to often do I see on Gizmodo (only other site I stray off to) that the writer of an article has no clue, and 9 times out of 10 it's because it isn't about gadgets, which is what that site is supposed to be about. Why venture off and look like a fuck-up?

That comment was quite verbose
"using or expressed in more words than are needed"
We're just loud.

Jalopnik and Fleshbot are the only ones I ever read. OK, well the latter isn't really "reading."

Seriously, what's a "Wert" (?).

You could also use the Gizmodo method:
Headline:
Is the American Auto Industry Dead?
Article:
No.

Ah. New-ish here?
Wert (El Werto, The Dragon, et al) refers to Ray Wert, the former Editor in Chief of Jalopnik. From there he moved to head content sales with Gawker Media, and just recently launched Tiny Toy Car, an advertising strategy and digital content studio. He brought Jalopnik up and out, from 2 million page views per month to 32 million by the time he left. He can been seen in the picture above, assaulting a GTR.

Alexa.com gives you global web rankings for websites. Here's Jalopnik .

The above internet average percentage of women is a bit of a surprise: can I presume this is due to the rest of the internet being 70% porn?

You would think on a car enthusiast website that women would be underrepresented. I'm not sure where they get this information, but maybe women visit Jalopnik often but don't like commenting?

I just looked - no kidding! I failed to mention however, that I'll take the quality of Jalopnik over the quantity of the rest of the Gawker media blogs combined. It seems like you guys (and girls) hold yourselves to a higher standard, and the filler articles are few and far between.

Wait, does Gawker still own Fleshbot?
![]() 03/12/2014 at 13:31 |

Well shit, apparently not for the past 20-some days .
Gawker "sold" Fleshbot to the site's then-editor Lux Alptraum in 2012, but apparently still owned the domain name. On February 24th of this year, SK Intertainment (Mr. Skin) purchased Fleshbot and the domain name from Lux Alptraum/Blogwire (Gawker).

"...gets fewer views that Jalopnik."
Perhaps if you make an investment in hiring some copy editors you might enjoy higher traffic numbers.

I don't work for Gawker or Jalopnik; I'm just a simple commenter. Perhaps if you're a bit nicer you might enjoy authorship privileges here :P
