Woah, was that like a sophisticated series of computers?
I'm serious, I saw a post on Gizmodo a few months ago where one commentor posted on of those fake "here's how I earned some specific amount of money doing something with a virus at the other side of a link", and a bunch of other fake commentors posted on his post agreeing with him.

Pray?
What good can God do when Aliens abduct you? I mean, get real. If it was dinosaurs, maaaaybe (God smote the lizards with a rock, you know?) but Aliens working with 9/11 insiders? God ain't got shit on that.
(I find the best way to respond to the ludicrous is with the ridiculous.)

This just reminds me of those dumbasses on Reddit who tried to find the Boston Bomber.
Leave this to the professionals. Stupid "crowdsourcing" bullshit.

I don't get why people have to shit on someone's well intentions. I get what they are trying to say, but you really got to be a huge cockbag to be like that. Regardless of belief or not.

I understand the intent. But God doesn't work that way. When you pray for something, he rarely, if ever, drops it in your lap. Often times we are simply given the tools to get the job done ourselves. And before anyone says "then why pray?", just think how the process would be without the tools we have.

There are atheists and then there are anti-theists . Most anti-theists claim to be atheists but in order to hate something that much, one first has to believe in it. Something bad must have happened to them in the past for them to hate God so much that they would take the time out of their busy day to shit on somebody else's beliefs like that.

LOLZORZ so true.
I was just going to ask everybody if we have some responsibility to monitor these sub-subforums, but that's not a job I want to have.

Yup. Whatever the case with the anti-theist, as a Christian, it's my job to try to understand, not judge, and show love. Unfortunately, I fail at that job a lot.

BINGO!
For those of us who do believe in God and the power of prayer, we don't know what effect it'll have. But we ask for His help in the ways He knows will be most effective. At the very least, our prayers might produce the peace and clarity in our own minds to examine the situation and come up with new ideas of how to solve it. Prayer might help us take the long view and be compassionate and loving toward those who've lost someone. We don't know.
And while I agree that too many Christians use invalidating platitudes like "the Lord works in mysterious ways" in situations like this, that's on them. Not on their God.

I always refer back to the flood joke. It's old, it's cheesy, but it's a lot more true than anyone realizes:
A religious man is on top of a roof during a great flood. A man comes by in a boat and says "get in, get in!" The religous man replies, " no I have faith in God, he will grant me a miracle."
Later the water is up to his waist and another boat comes by and the guy tells him to get in again. He responds that he has faith in god and god will give him a miracle. With the water at about chest high, another boat comes to rescue him, but he turns down the offer again cause "God will grant him a miracle."
With the water at chin high, a helicopter throws down a ladder and they tell him to get in, mumbling with the water in his mouth, he again turns down the request for help for the faith of God. He arrives at the gates of heaven with broken faith and says to Peter, I thought God would grand me a miracle and I have been let down." St. Peter chuckles and responds, "I don't know what you're complaining about, we sent you three boats and a helicopter."

Excellent reasoning and probably closer to the truth than any of them would ever freely admit.

"God doesnt work that way?" So you speak for a god? Isnt that blasphemous (this is the word spell check gave me when I tried to spell blasphemous - hemispherical so maybe god drives a Dodge? lol) and against the tenets of your own religion? The problem isnt that us atheists are angry or hurt its just that the religion you cling to makes so little sense.

Many men and women with much more experience than I have told me that God does for those that do for themselves. Otherwise you're just an angry bitter atheists waiting to bring down believers for something you know nothing about.

Oh. I'm sorry. I shoulda lead off with "I got my point from the Bible. Which is the word of God". That means I'm relaying from him to you. Not the same as speaking for someone. I thought you could infer that.
