It’s almost the same story every morning when I get into work. Open the fridge nowhere to put my single tupperware of spaghetti. I get in about an hour later than most people so there is usually not that much space so I just throw my Snapware plastic culinary carton into the space and I don’t care where it lands because there’s no way it’s going to come open. But it’s not the space that bothers me well it does a little bit but that's my own fault for getting to work late. But that’s only secondary to this.... what in the hell is the point of putting an insulated bag in damn refrigerator?
I work in a building full of engineers (at least 80%) and I am surprised that regardless of their engineering discipline that they would at least understand the basic concepts of thermodynamics and heat transfer. I mean do they want to cool they lunch items at an incredibly low rate? Why not just leave the insulated lunch bin at you cubicle because in the 4 hours that it sits at the desk is not going to cause any mold spores or an outbreak of clostridium perfringens.
Speaking of refigerators I would like to put a portable 12V Fridge to keep my munchibles cold while I am out on the trail in the Taco. I would also like to set it at the edge of a cliff too.

I put mine in the vegetable crisper. That's usually (mostly) empty.

If the bag stays unzipped, it usually still allows all the items to be chilled correctly. They may just have too many items to keep chilled so they don't want to take all their items out and put them in the fridge individually.
I suppose I am lucky that I am one of two people that use our fridge. I can put whatever I wanted in there.

But that's what drives me nuts, even if you need you to keep all of your stuff together, you can put it in a damn grocery sack like the rest of us common folk. Plastic sacks have a better overall thermal conductivity than a huge plastic bin to keep your carrot sticks and your Greek yogurt cold

Good thing people around here don't bring their lunches in. Seriously, there is like 1 bottle of mayo in the fridge here.

I miss my old office. I had a fridge in said office. And a Keurig. Now I have to use the communal fridge like some damn peon.

Or maybe they bring their lunches in an insulated lunch bag and not put it in the fridge

I tried your placement strategy today. The big poofy grocery sack already in there was decieving but surprisingly more space.
