I can fix it myself, but I feel like fucking throwing $$$ at the problem and making the local BMW indie mechanic do the work.

Indie is a word that sounds homely and intriguing in the gaming industry, that doesn't comply to car mechanics, it just sounds kind of dangerous in that perspective.

Mine's shot too! I'll take it to my indie when it's time for Summer tires again.

I fixed mine with a choke cable, some aircraft grade braided stainless cable, a lawnmower pull string handle, angle iron and a bicycle brake cable barrel nut.

Already read through 5 pages of it... Spent some time on E38.org too.

I just want to know some more info from owners. How has your ownership experience been so far and how do you like the E38.

Seems like Once you go E38, you don't go back! according to the forums

Nice. Im sure there are indies out there, but there's a really good one in Huber Heights - I think I must've been there enough to buy him a boat

I broke the stupid interior plastic handle/latch on my E36. So the cable is still good...

I would have gone OE, but I only had $30 to my name at the time.
