Went to the gym this morning and conveniently enough, the two most recent generations of the Escape were parked by each other; so I stared for a sec, took out my potato and took a pic.
What do you all think about the newest compared to its predecessor? Do you like it? Love it or hate it? If any of those answers then what is it about it?

Better aero, these are all tall cars now.

Reminds me slightly more of Mall-Cops

I liked the old monochrome ones
I think just giving it good engines would've been enough of an update

Which one? The previous I'm guessing.

I swear I have a strange fetish for seeing a model alongside it's predecessor by chance.
New Escape wins though, though I always liked that the previous gen felt like a larger version of my Focus.

I like the new one, the updated front fascia and body matches the themes of the rest of the current car lineup very well without looking like a baby Explorer. The last gen looks outdated now in comparison.

And lowering it just a tad...

I like the new one too, but I consider it a bigger Focus; inside and out.

The previous one reminded me more of Campus Security, the current reminds me of mall cops. It does seem that every single security car in my area is an Escape though.

The old escape was a truck. The new one is a car.

My school uses the previous ones as campus security haha! I've never seen a newer one as a security car of any kind.

Haha, same here that's where I got the idea. I've seen a few newer ones driving around, whenever I see a security car anywhere, I make sure to do a flyby.

The older one looks like an SUV intended for mall parking lots, the new one like a Focus wagon with an unhealthy appetite for McDonalds.

"What do you think of the newest Escape compared to the previous?"
It has to be better. I don't think it can be worse.
They sound appealing with their low entry price but it's when you look deeper that you realize a decent one will cost a bit of change.

I like the baby Explorer body style a little better. No idea why, something just looks off about the new one to me.

I'm not a fan, for the same reason I wasn't a fan of the last one: it's an ugly, inefficient - and I'm not talking about fuel - utterly unnecessary and all around awful waste of road. But, hey, that's just me. I'm sure it's just fine, if you don't have a somewhat irrational - though at least partially grounded in a genuine complaint - hatred of the class of vehicles to which it belongs.
(I don't like SUVs that don't spend most of their time off road, and am glad to live in a place where they're fairly uncommon. Where I live, their size - this is key to why I dislike them - can cause all sorts of traffic problems, as they can easily block two-way roads with their bulk.)

I'm with you on that, I like the old style better, and it looked like it had some "utility" compared to the new one, which is just a tall Focus.

The only thing that really bugs me on the new ones is that "Autozone like" fender vent.
Honestly if I was in the market for something like the Escape I would totally not consider it because of that fender vent. That's how much it bothers me.

All I know is that $kaycog has the new one with the ecoboost and that she loves it. She traded it in for a V8 Explorer. So it must be a good car/CUV/vehicle/whatever.

My brother was on the fence between the outgoing and incoming model. He ended up with the older one and its pretty spacious but for some reason the driving position is troublesome to me. The new ones design is quite nice especially with those wheels and from what Ive been told you actually see the value in the limited trim now. His limited seems quite basic.

My wife has the new one and it's fantastic!(for a crossover) short of the CX-5 I can't any other cross over being better. It has a very european feel to it. I love driving it even with the 1.6L Ecoboost it is still plenty peppy. I bought myself a 2013 Fusion and I sort of regret not getting an escape instead it is so practical and the perfect size for us.
