Just occurred to me. Oldsmobile had some cool cars, but in the years (or maybe even decades) prior to their end their catalogue was as interesting as the economy section in a newspaper from a communist country.

The Intrigue wasn't bad at all.

The Alero was even sold in Europe, and you can even get those Euro headlights (which is strongly recommended for anybody that has that car). Manual transmission, 4-cylinder, sunroof hell yeah!

Both generations of the Aurora would work, too. The second-gen is the only true American nameplate car designed in Detroit and UAW-made to come with rear fog lights even in the domestic market.

I also like the Achieva SCX and Quad 442.

Even though I hate them, I'll say the first gen aurora. big smooth v8, cool futuristic retro styling (based off the original tornado) and frameless doors and absurdly solid construction.

+1 on the Achieva. At a time of uninspired design and with a platform that the other brands used for said uninspired design, Oldsmobile did something new, interesting and cool.

Over engineered to the max.

Probably the best car GM made at that time.

Seconded. I had a Riviera - same underpinnings, 2 doors instead of 4. The Aurora got a V8, the Riv got a supercharged V6. Both great drivetrains. This one one of those model designs where they had to "reinvent the crushing machine" because it withstood so much force.

Oldsmobile made 3 of these FE-3X concepts based on different models. They weren't intended to go on production as far as I know but they were used to test out the FE1,2 and 3 suspension packages that later became options on many GM cars.

Without a doubt. I'm keeping a craigslist search running for V-8 Auroras because I have another daughter reaching driving age next fall. Safe car, yes. But so much more.
