I stumbled upon this photo on Google images:
It is apparently a 1939 Plymouth, but every other '39 I've seen looks like this:
With the squircle headlights, and more chrome. Almost everything else seems to be the same. So, does anyone know if this is really the same year? A different model? A different market?

I believe the round headlamps were aftermarket conversions such as Wedford arrow conversion kit. The conversions were somewhat popular at the time.

Interesting, thanks. I don't see why anyone would purposefully change the squircles for the more boring type, though.

Different model. The square headlight model is the DeLuxe. The round headlight is one of a couple base models Like the Special.

One reason was that sealed beams became mandatory in 1940 and some people were afraid that the law change would also concern older cars
