Kinja'd!!!

Guess what? She made a new friend!

Kinja'd!!!

But first things first; The day began with me having to dig her out from a pile of crap in a barn where she'd been sitting for the past 2-3 months. After getting her out and looking over all the fluids she fired right up after chewing on the starter engine for a little while. After some minor testing to check for leaks and testing of the brakes I drove her into the nearest town 15 miles to give her a fresh tank of v-pwwr and did some cruising.

And what do you know? Seems like I wasn't the only one thought today was a good day to start the "American car season", as there were quite a few old land yachts out, driving around town. And amazingly I just happen to run into the only other 2nd gen Firebird in like the nearest 30 mile radius. We stop to have a chat, do some more driving together and stop to chat again before driving home.

Kinja'd!!!

Good times!

What are the odds of any two F-bodies being on the same Swedish street? I always thought it was zero, but I'm apparently wrong.

The concentration of 'murica was so strong that Sweden's GPD spiked, their average citizen's weight rose, and political spectrum shifted noticeably toward the right.

Yeah, and it gets even weirder when you factor in that the "regular" car I drove behind for 15 miles as I first drove in to town was driven by the same guy who owned the Trans Am...

Don't change a thing about that car. It's perfect :)

What are the specs on it? I can't remember.

Hehe we'll see... The body will remain the same for this year, but next year I am probably gonna convert it to the smaller 70'-74' rear window and some other little things.

Engine wise currently has a Pontiac 350 with headers, holley 700 dp, edelbrock preformer RPM intake, and a pretty aggressive hydraulic Crane cam. all of this is mated to a stock refurbished th350 and the stock open diff.

So nothing to exiting in other words. However! Soon I should be getting back my 389 gto engine that has been at an engine shop getting bored 0.040 over. When that thing goes in in combination with an Auburn difflocker I'm intending om buying, things should get a bit more interesting.

This photo actually gives a really good sense of how much the second gen F-bodies evolved over time. I can't think of any other car(s) that changed so much without ever moving to an entirely new generation.

Indeed, they were truly amazing cars, no matter what the year. However, funny thing you'd point that out as the black one was originally a 75' Firebird and mine was originally a 76' :P I'd say good thing they didn't change too much about them over the years to keep things between them interchangeable.

Since when is 5.7l not exciting? Bet it sounds beastly :)

What sort of power figures are you looking at at the moment, and what about the 389?

Oh yeah the 2.5" exhaust system does make it sound awesome. However it doesn't make it very fast :(. 0-60 takes around 8 seconds today, but that is probably mostly due to a low geared rear end and really bad tires.

I have no idea about the power figures but if I were to take I guess I'd say it's around 250-300 hp today. With the new engine I am aiming towards a reliable 350-400 hp engine.
