I feel like there are well known Oppo contributors I should know. Besides the obvious Jalopnik writers (of whom I have a cursory knowledge).
Reveal your secrets!
I am a nobody, looking to become a somebody. I would love to do something like Regular car reviews. I have access to over 1000 used cars in inventory a brand new GT-R, some older Ferrari, Porsches, and of course my own baby e39 but don't quite have the time to do so. Automotive journalism is a dream of mine, but can it pay the bills as well as a cushy job at a Nissan dealer doing F&I?
Also I am somewhat of an Anglophile and my dream garage would consist of an XKR, LR3, and Triumph Scrambler bike.

I like to say that I've been driving and on the computer without pants before it was cool. I also decided to do a 944 clutch job by myself so I've earned a reputation for being crazy in some circles I suppose. It was awesome I managed to leave a Porsche mechanic speechless when I told him that

From your description, you are likely closer to being somebody than the majority of people here are. Most of us have these qualifications:
1) We are interested in cars enough to press buttons on our keyboards in pursuit of indulging said interest.
2) We complain about Kinja.

I was raised a omnivorous cliff dweller in postwar Djibouti on the banks of the River Guano. I began making folk art carvings of the local grit separator divers from goat dopplers as a way to supplant my family's meager income earned from giving marksmanship lessons with double barrel slingshots and stamping "Nyet Skid" on cheap Russian imported condoms.
We arrived on the coast of North Carolina during the notorious Morehead City Boatlift of Ash Wednesday 1969. I continued to hone my carving skills, getting good enough to fashion an acceptable rendition of Jesse Helms doing "Riverdance" replete with fishnet stockings and a tight little bottom until all my tools were destroyed during the little known great Hurricane Homer floods of 1989. As the flood waters receded I found a rare Peugeot 504 wagon that had washed up in the yard, complete except caked in a mass of pig poop. From there it was only a short step to my current living of selling bulldozers and manhole covers, and my pastimes of using explosives to open pop bottles, javelin catching and using a magnifying glass to incinerate insects on the sidewalk here in front of the ward...

That is true, but when you buy those sockets and triple squares you also need to buy a jar of black magic. Freaking 944 everything is supported by each other so when you slap it back together it takes quite a bit of strength, rain dances to the porsche gods and it would help to have some black magic and good karma on your side. Had to drop my rear suspension in it and it almost took off my hand, I swear the car is trying to kill me

I own way too many hot wheels. I enjoy a good cheesesteak and have a bit of a spending problem. I am also ridiculously addicted to dipping, and trying to quit. I have a storied history of being a gear head, my one grandpa was a hill climb racer in the late '50s early '60s, and drove a Triumph TR3. My other grandpa was a hotrodder in the late '60s/early '70s and had a souped up Hillman Imp. Oh, one more thing, the Triumph Scrambler is the best new bike you can buy.

I'm a medical student from Brazil, one of the worst countries in the world for car lovers. Still, I managed not to get stuck with a 1.4 enconomic crapbox by keeping my dad's 18 year old Tipo Sedicivalvole alive.
It's nothing exotic or anything, but I guarantee you won't find another one like this in all of Brazil. They simply don't exist anymore, at least not without copious amounts of rust, smoking engines and jamming transmissions.
Also, some of my colleagues think I'm suicidal by driving a car like that in Brazilian traffic, so I guess I'm also a statistical zombie.

Oh, I most definitely love it. It's a car with a larger engine that's still more powerful (185 hp after the 2006 engine rebuild) and better equipped than most equivalent cars sold in Brazil nowadays, plus it's almost literally one of a kind. It's not uncommon, for example, for people to compliment it, take pictures or even offer to buy it from me when I'm driving.

The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
In all seriousness, I am new here and have a similar ambition with regard to contributing. My fleet consists of an '04 Envoy SLE, an '05 MkV Jetta 2.5, and a '96 Ranger 2.3. I'm sure you're jealous.
Best of luck!

So to answer your question: I'm a physicist working for a small company in the capacity of general purpose electrical engineer and scientist, in both design and field application capacity, which means sometimes I cut and paste from Wikipedia to Powerpoint for weeks on end, and sometimes I slog through mud in a tunnel 1000 feet underground at 2am carrying prototype equipment at a customer's site.*
I am married, father of five, and because my wife is AMAZING, I daily drive an NA Miata instead of a minivan. She's got a W211 Mercedes wagon that seats seven, so we're all good for school, church, shopping, and family drives.
I've got no employment connection to anything automotive; I'm not a member of any car clubs or anything; I've done an SCCA autocross class once but I've never competed; I've never been to a paid-spectator motorsports event; I follow F1 fairly closely and dread the upcoming cluster that will be the Australian GP; I play Gran Turismo with a homemade cockpit and G27, and while I'm nothing on the world competition level, I hold my own well against the Opponauts.

I'm a student studying the International Baccalaureate in Hong Kong, otherwise known as Intense Brutality. I may be young, but I feel as though I act a lot older than I actually am. I'm sensible. And discreet.
I also don't conform to the usual stereotypes. I like K-Pop a lot. I like dancing a lot. I like singing a lot, even though I sound like a piledriver in a barrel. But I like cars more. Cars were my first love. And I'm very happy when cars appear in K-Pop MVs. Did you know that in the latest Girls' Generation MV, all the cars in that carpark scene are Mustangs?
I like to give technological advice to those who need it, even though I think I'm not that great. I've helped teachers countless times when their computers can't connect to the projector. I'm a big fan of superchargers - especially if they whine. I'm an even bigger fan of induction noise, example being BMW E46 M3 CSL. My dream car is a Ford Escort RS Cosworth - even though it's turbocharged.
Music-wise, I enjoy the older stuff. The Carpenters for instance. Classical music. Country and Folk. Big fan of 80s electro and synth. And of course, K-Pop. I like old-fashioned things in general.
For the big secret - I enjoy the D on D thing. It's not I'm afraid to tell, it's just that I only tell on a need-to-know basis or if the asker is genuinely interested, to avoid negative responses. I'd say I'm 80%, 'cause I still get a kick out of Charlize Theron and Dita Von Teese. I also got a kick out that "controversial" photo Lotus posted a few weeks back during Sochi. //shrugs
Also, I loathe The Fault In Our Stars. Took a look at one page and decided it had the literary merit of the probability of a man menstruating. Wet, wishy washy rag.
If you're interested, you can take a look at my Tumblr blog for cars . And if you dare, you can take a look at the one I use to vent my love for K-Pop .

Supercharger whine is why I love the XKR. I was an IB student here in California for a while, but opted out since the torture did not fit my lackadaisical nature. understandable, i have not had any injuries serious enough yet to do that to me. But One time i did mess up my ankle in a dirt bike accident and that sucked majorly. And yea a crowd sourced car is a good idea, if only i understood enough of the material...

Get into auto finance. I can honestly say we are probably some of the most overpaid idiots in the world. I made about 80k last year to sit at a desk for 10 hours a day on Youtube with sporadic work here and there. Honestly I just looked at credit, did a quick pencil and the secretary and closer did the rest. I'm sure you make more than that, but I have friends who are on a different pay scale that make 10k+ per month. It leads to a comfortable life

Hello! I'm a sixth-form student who, with a not inconsiderable amount of luck, will hopefully be going to university to study English Literature towards the end of this year. I make a checkout machine go 'blip' in a supermarket for money.
As for cars, I have an unhealthy obsession with small hatchbacks, particularly of the French variety, and currently drive a Peugeot 106 1.1. Here it is:
And here's what I wish it was:
(It's still gobs of fun, even in relatively pedestrian guise, but you always want more, I suppose.)
My dream car is probably the old Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi:
Though the hot version of my own car, the 106 GTi, does give it a run for its money:
I'm fairly boring, really. Still, good to meet you!

I got into a nasty motorcycle accident last year on my R6 whilst wearing shorts and a polo. Rolled across the opposite lane in front of traffic and fractured a couple metatarsus, periosteal bruising on 3 ribs and pelvis. I haven't been able to ride since, I'm scared shitless. Seems like all the things I enjoy are being taken one by one lol. We should get some oppo guys together (the rich ones) to do a Factory Five Racing GTM.

English I take it? Here in 'Murica we just gots our regular grades, not them fancy sixth form classes. I'm not sure what that entails. Can't say I've got a spot in my heart for a hatch, but I can do a great 360 in a Mini Cooper.

My sister lives in Brentwood, and I've got friends in Modesto. It's not unlikely that I'll be out that way eventually.

We've always got a ton of cars laying around for fun. We are currently also building a 67 Mustang, but it is a long way off to ready.

And so far I've been ignoring the elephant in the room, but isn't "freelance embalmer" the kind of person they make scary movies about?

I love the relativity of the word rich, especially in a blog occupied by all walks of life. I hope to start riding again this year, but my Mother says she will come to my house and burn whatever bike I purchase lol.

Yup, English. Sixth-form is effectively our equivalent of high school.
The way it works in Kent - our system is slightly different from that of the rest of the UK - is that you attend primary school from age four to age twelve, then go on to secondary school until you're sixteen. At sixteen, you can choose to either stay on at your school's sixth form college - choosing up to four subjects to study - go on to an unaffiliated college, or leave formal education and start working. Or, at least, you could, before the government made sixth-form-or-equivalent mandatory for all students, a change which first came into effect for students in the year below mine.
If you stay on, you'll generally spend two years studying for your 'A-Level' qualifications, which you'll then use to get into university. That's where I am now.

I'm jelly of that Ranger. I am in constant need of a pick up that isn't riddled with sales stickers.

I'm from America, don't teach me things about for'ners!
Figured it was either late high school or what we would consider junior college here. I actually almost attended college at University of Exeter in Devon. Turning that down was another brick paved in my long road to ruin.

I was thinking of going there for a while! My aunt lives close-by, and they scored well in the league tables for my subject. I think I ended up bumping them from my list because I only had five choices, and I wanted to make at least a couple easy to achieve, so I've got a backup option or two if I fuck up my exams.

Howdy! I'm one of the moderators here. I'm also a rally co-driver and occasional desert racer. Sometimes I write about it, sometimes I say I'll write about it but get distracted when the write-up is only half done. Been part of Oppo for a good three years now, give or take. I once famously made the front page when the steering wheel came off in our rally car at speed. Less famously when I wrote a story about the Nameless GT86 rally car.

I take it that the steering wheel coming off was not in the track notes?
