Just some pictures I took today with the trusty potato while working on things today...
Sooooooo much cleaning.
Finally all clean.
Taping off...
To do this...

Post potato pictures when it's finished.

I will continue to post potato picture updates as progress happens. Our goal is to clean the rest and start reassembly over the next two days. Need to source new main bearings before it can really go together though. The head is going to be a good 4 hours of cleaning in itself. -_-

SR20? I don't know it's a Nissan engine.

There's plenty of SR20 up there, but not the engine.
You're right about it being a Nissan though.

My guess is that it's an L24.

Sweet :) Speedhunters is doing submissions with an engine theme. That first pic would be perfect.

You're not going to reuse those bearings are you?
![]() 03/08/2014 at 13:52 |

Nope. They were in pretty tough shape. Should have them all here on the 13th.

good deal, I certainly wasn't trying to insult but I've seen it done, both times ended in spun rod bearings, one took a day, the other a week. They replaced the rings but figured the bearings looked good enough.

Rod bearings had some pitting/grooving and one main was pretty bad too.
Wasn't in the original plan but definitely is now.
