I accidentally crossed the border. I made a wrong turn in Detroit and ended up in the Windsor tunnel. Actually i did a U-turn before I got to the border patrol which was even more embarrassing because I've got to wonder what they think when they see a car do an illegal u-turn before a border crossing.

My wife did the same. Drove right to the Mexican border from AZ and tried to turn around, of course she gets pulled over by 5 vehicles thinking she has something to hide. Me, I ran a red light (small street, only one other car) because I miss shifted and looked down since I was surprised the car jerked so hard. Had to drive next to the other car to apologize for running the light.

There's a stop light in town with a very quick amber (Like 1 1/2 seconds.) and a long pause where all sides are red. (Like 3 seconds.) I was going 60 km/h when the light changed to amber. I hesitated and ended up stopping in the middle of the intersection as the light changed to red. I sheepishly decided to carry onwards with everyone staring at me, while also being the luckiest bastard alive because the cop with a front row seat to the show was looking at something on the floor while I did the whole thing.
Still can't believe I never got a ticket for that one. (Knocking on wood, I remain ticketless to this day. (Licensed from 16 to 24.))

Not sure this qualifies as embarrassing just stupid. I once got clocked doing 85 in a 70. I was in heavy traffic and the cop couldn't pull on to the highway immediately. I decided it would be a good idea to exit the highway ASAP and not get caught (since I had just been ticketed for 80 in a 70 2 days prior). ASAP turned out to be 7 miles away. I did not know that. I was told he paced me up to 100 and he wrote me up for 95 in a 70. Grumble grumble. That said I have exited the highway immediately after passing a trooper and avoided a ticket for 10mph over on at least 2 occasions.

Downshifted to pass a left lane hog, and couldn't get it in gear, so I had to double clutch. Then I missed the upshift as well, so another double clutch.

once had to drive a purple '95 hyundai accent slushbox with no muffler and a coffee can welded to a testpipe. broken hubcaps, fuzzy lime green seatcovers/steering wheel, etc...
hooned it hard, raced a pack of sportbikes and got laughed at and berated by a moustache wearing umbrella holding cop on the side of the road.

I crashed into another car in the high school parking lot, back when I was in high school. The damage wasn't bad, only needed a new headlight, but still. Brilliant.

I got pissed at the driver of a white Cruze hatch on my commute once and, on the way back, pushed him into the river that runs in the middle of the avenue, only to realize far too late it was a sedan, not the hatch that I'd been chasing.
Yeah, ok, I didn't do that :p
My most embarrassing was probably cruising downtown one summer with both headlights hanging by their plugs. I seriously thought people were complimenting me by flashing their headlights, but it turns out mine were hanging low. It's the automotive equivalent of strutting with your fly open.
