This is a personal dream car...1 of 200 made. I do love me some rare JDM...and I guess I just have a thing for special edition models.
133,000km and looks to be in very reasonable shape.
It has an RB20DET-R and an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ! What more could you want?
And look at this interior...soak in all that 80's style!

No, not this one. Bad timing for me, if only it would have popped up last week.
If someone was seriously interested though I might be able to help them out...

I saw that post! It seems there are a few running around in your neck of the woods. There's a few Soarer's up there too.

Haven't seen any soarers, but I usually end up seeing a few GT-R skylines when i go to Formula D every year, so i know there's a relatively big market for JDM stuff up here in Washington. I bet the laws are a little more lax or something.

Yeah I think your laws are pretty lax for registration...must be to get the GT-Rs through.
I know there is at least one 25yr+ importer up there, so I'm sure that increases the concentration of cool JDM in the area.

What's the estimate?

It's happening because the DOT has some crappy laws that make it nearly impossible to register/tag/insure stateside. Once a car is 25 years old it is exempt. That's why you're starting to see them.

Yes. But I also see R33 and less than 25 year old R32s from time to time.

That's tough on this one.
There's no estimates at the Japanese auctions, and this one is slightly modified. Nothing too major, but it needs a couple things to be perfect.

If they had legit plates/registration/insurance then there's one or more 'crooked' DMV employee(s) in your region.

maybe. I'm thinking more along the lines of "we dont do a very good job checking on these things in this state." But you could be right. Hell, we could both be right. Also, though I've definitely seen some with Washington plates, I've also seen them with Canadian plates. People could conceivably register them in Canada if they have relatives there and go back and forth regularly.

A lot of states don't care about the federal legality of a car. They assume it's US Customs job to stop them from coming in. If the vehicle meets all of the states requirements, they'll register it. They don't enforce FMVSS as those are federal standards. Many states adopt most federal provisions into their state laws somehow though.
The beauty of our Federal/State government system...
