Kinja'd!!!

My girlfriend is starting to feel better.

She typically tries to tell me she isn't much interested in cars. But then she'll watch Top Gear with me, and send me pictures like this.

I think the Mercedes has converted her, deep down inside, and that's good, especially if this year goes to plan.

most Prius owners struggle to get over 50mpg.

So ner to that too I suppose.

Fact - Regular Priuses don't get 60 mpg.

Another fact - the cost of a new set of tires for a Veyron is more than the cost of a brand new well-equipped Prius ($40k a set)

Ugh, I think the Prius looks better then the Veyron. I pray I never have to say the first half of that sentence ever again in my life

The few people I know who have driven or own(ed) a Prius for any length of time couldn't get them over 45mpg average.

Another fact - the prototype Veyron's exhaust was so hot that during testing it spat out a 6 foot flame once. Needless to say, they took care of that minor bumper melting issue for production. No Prius ever did that.

yeah. $42k per set of 4 that last 10k miles.

Plus you have to change wheels every 3rd tyre change at $69,000 a set.

I also heard the car has to be shipped back to Michelin in France for that.

No. Bugatti Veyron owners are getting chased down by 25 year old guys and every gas station attendant. If you're a girl I guess you could say that a Bugatti got you laid, but with a guy I'd say 50/50 with the Prius.

My family has a 2010 Prius. For the first 15-20k miles it averaged 45-50mpg. Now it has 63k and averages 41-44

I have heard similar things about the tires. I also heard that there's a place in the general Boston area that can do it, but I can't find any info to support that.

Ain't nobody got time for that. Bad enough putting rubber on the benz. I could never buy a car that required so much work for a simple tire change. It completely surpasses the basic safety in my opinion. The only contact patch between you and the road has to be a specific tire, and only some guy specially trained in the bugatti school of witchcraft and wizardry (of taking my wallet and all it's contents) can change it? Sorry, but no. Even if I had the money to piss away, I'd rather have something more easily maintained.

oh I'm sure other people can change the wheels and tyres, but the expense is so Bugatti can say that they took all steps necessary to make sure the car is safe at the claimed top speed.

that and Bugatti know that anyone spending upwards of 1.8 million can afford an extra $100k every year on servicing. regardless of if it's actually worth that.

I'm curious as to HOW YOU SPEND $40,000 ON TIRES !

That's pretty low mileage, any thoughts on what caused that drop? Battery getting old or something else? A 1.8L is more than capable of keeping that kind of gas mileage even without the battery, so I'm a little surprised you've seen a fairly noticeable drop.

No hybrids here, but I frequently drive a Honda Insight. Different drivetrain concept, but the thing is a great car, I love it (has the optional 7 speed). It gets around 45-50mpg when I drive it, but my boss is a little less frugal with it. His key usually says right about 40mpg. My sister has an 05 Civic though (base model, 5spd) and she gets high 40's consistently. My neon has consistently gotten 29.9mpg for almost two years straight. I managed to get 32mpg average once, and for the life of me I couldn't get it to happen again. Not sure what I did. My neon just has sub-par gearing for the highway commutes (other trans options have different gearing).

easy. totally custom made tires that took years to develop and millions of dollars to develop as well. plus they misture for the rubber has to be super prisce so the tire can hold up to 260 mph.

onow, if ur just using the thing for posing, you can get a different set of tires. but if you want to use it right, the expense is something that must be paid

I've learned to barter. I would tell my ex girlfriends that in order to get me to watch certain movies (like twilight for example), there would have to be something in it for me. Luckily for me, my demands were far too high, so I never had to deal with it.

With my current girlfriend though, she wont always go to shows with me, but she will come to shows with me, help me out with video or photo equipment, and she's happy. She knows that when she wants to go see Frozen, I'll go with her, and I'm fine with that. Sometimes things wont really work out, but for the most part, things work out very well. I usually drive everywhere, even if she comes to my place, I'll pick her up and drive back home. So when I drive over on Sundays, I'm there all day, so we tend to do what she wants to do, and then when it gets later, we tend to slow down, sit on the couch, and watch tv or something. She also lives in a very wooded area, so you don't really go out at night often. Bear, coyote, etc. Nothing cute and cuddly you don't mind getting close to.

Just barter with her. Nothing is off limits.
