Heading home from work out of town my subarus engine started squeaking and knocking. I ended up at the side of the road in -20C weather waiting for a tow truck for a little over an hour. Keeping myself warm with a blanket that smells like stinky feet.

Ugh that sucks.
Here is my story. Someone crashed into me, starting february, the steering got damaged.
The shop got the car finished today, i take it home and find this cheap fix.

I feel you.

We've got a 2011 Outback, weekend before last we were in the middle of nowhere when the temperature light went red. Manual said to let it idle if it wasn't steaming and the fans were working. Called the dealership to confirm, they concurred. Still wouldn't cool down, and no heat came out of the A/C vents...because the coolant had boiled right out of the heads. Tried to stay warm for an hour while waiting for a flatbed.

Just got it back, a week and a half later. Fixed under the factory 5yr/60k powertrain warranty...we were at 59,000 miles.

New heads, new valves, new everything gaskets. Total before warranty: $2,800. Didn't cost us a dime.

Hope your story ends just as well!
