Is it any wonder that I'm going for a degree in education?

God speed my friend on your treacherous voyage in education. When I returned from the army I finished a degree in special education, probably suffered some brain damage down range. I'm in social work now coordinating and evaluating children with disabilities age birth to three, I love it and most likely won't spend another day teaching in a public school. Guess what I'm trying to say is your hearts in the right place but leave an escape route open down the road because when burnout hits you'll feel like the last violist on the titanic without one.

Good luck and may god have mercy on your soul. You look the part, so you are half way to the dark side.
I personally can't stand being around most teachers for more than a few minutes at a time. I spent a stint working for a school district and between that and my time in high school I now have a permanent aversion. They have a weird way of using the union as a weapon to cull any from the herd that don't think and act exactly like the existing teaching base and most have serious superiority complexes. Makes for terrible people to train in new technology or try to keep current with modern methodologies.

Nope...but I also don't criticize other people's spelling and punctuation. I fucking hate it when my colleagues do that unsolicited.

Well at 32 I decided I wanted to go back to school. At 33 I started the process and now at 35 I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It was when I was in a training position in a call center that the spark was ignited. Now I feel called to that profession. Granted, my problems with authority and nature as a performer may cause issues, but the eccentric history teacher in plaid pants with a voice like an old man in a cartoon was always my favorite.

You'll love the classroom, I still remember teaching az history and watching eyes get wide talking about castle hot springs and all the boom town mines just outside of town. It is what you make of it, unfortunately you'll find administration a hindrance to teaching the subjects that actually get kids to love and care about what you're teaching. Too much scripted shit now a days to be honest. Keep your head up, I'll make sure to tip a glass when you're walking up to get that diploma.
I hoon, therefore I am
