I recently bought a 2000 Mustang GT with 98k on the clock. The other day when I was just driving it around the temperature gauge just quit working. It's not overheating or anything of that nature, it just doesn't read. Any help would be appreciated!

Gauge is broken or send unit is acting up.

Probably a bad sending unit, if it is you'll want to replace it because the computer will always think the engine is cold and run it too rich. Check with the mustang forums, search around a little and I bet you'll find a more definitive answer, as well as how to troubleshoot the problem.

Step one: Check / replace the thermostat.

Step B: check the sender unit (connections may be loose or sender unit may be bad), not sure if these use a dual sensor one for the ecu one for the gauge.

instruction 3: Check the inputs to the gauge to verify you have voltage coming into the gauge itself

Or a plug/wire has disconnected itself.

Easy thing is to test the sending unit. Just unplug it and measure the resistance when it's warm. Or replace it just to be sure. I can't imagine they're too expensive.

Check the Fuse first. Then what everyone else is saying.

They are only 20 bucks, but I'll look into doing that this evening! Thanks!

I'm not 100 percent sure on that with the modular motors, not sure if there are two temp sensors or just one. Should be able to tell with a scan tool what temp the computer is reading. Do check with the mustang guys at a mustang forum to see if this is a common problem with a simple solution. Good luck with it.

It turned out to actually be the motor in the gauge cluster. Simple fix with just a bit of soldering and the part seems cheap enough.

That's great, glad it's an easy fix.
