I am dealing with a charging issue. It's not charging the battery. New alternator, belt and tensioner. I want to check grounds.

I haven't checked yet, but even the bad one was magnetized.

I've replaced an alternator with one that was bad right from Autozone. Get your voltmeter out and check if you are getting 14 volts directly from the alternator. If you are you can try running a cable from an alternator mounting bolt to the battery and various other points on the frame and see if that gives you 14 at the battery. As far as specifics go, I have no idea how it's set up from the factory with regards to grounding straps and so forth.

Also, have your battery tested. It may be bad.

I know, but I'll never buy another duralast unit (that's what was on the car) and the one I got was tested twice. Before installation.

Have you used this site before. It's free, though you have to renew it every year, but it will give you technical breakdowns for your MB.

Would that still give me a bad ground?

Yeah the battery tested good. The spare did too

Running the Cable from the body of the alternator using a bolt in the bracket directly to the battery would give you a perfect ground for charging. How do the voltages check out? do you have a gauge or a light? here's an easy way take jumper cables and clip one end to the alternator bracket, then to the battery and check your voltage. This will tell you if you have a good ground between the mount and the alternator itself. If that checks out next try removing the jumper cable from the battery to a place on the frame that is bare metal. Bolt heads, brackets, things like that.

I have a meter. I got 9.8 volts from the alternator case to the junction box
