Is it weird that it sounds almost exactly like the Turbo X?

Don't some i6's have two piece exhaust manifolds?

like nerd-vol said, it's two pieces, so headers

i put a TJ header on my jeep and it was 2 piece, but since it wound up collecting into 1, i consider that a header, and each piece was half a header.

You're gonna have fun installing headers with the car on jackstands
and by fun I mean not fun
yet again I've never done headers on an I6 so it could be a lot easier.
One of the moderators on HIDPlanet has this sweet ass IS300 that I know oppo would love

I would do it myself but my dad wants a local shop to do it instead. I kinda would rather them not do it, but they are a good shop and if my dad's paying I guess I can't complain.

I'm just going to say it. That gauge cluster is awful. That's a freaking Lexus? Yeesh.

I'm sorry, but it's really tacky and ricey. All crass, no class.
If you want a better looking gauge cluster, see the 2001 Acura CL Type S (Type S is important, it has the nicer cluster):

Personally I think that is a stupid looking cluster, white always looks bleh.

It's clean, classy, mature, and easy to read, on top of being well laid out. And it's more silver than white.

I still think it looks dumb.
One of the clusters you could get on the JDM Altezza was this one and it is glorious

I completely and totally disagree with you. Always loved the gauges on the IS300 and white faced gauges must be done really really well to come off as sporty rather than tacky.
CL does get points for straight up usability though. The IS300 gauges are cool looking but mostly useless, whereas you can definitely see what you're doing with the CL type S gauges.

It's not white, it's silver. The picture is low quality and not mine.

Well that certainly removes a lot of the tackiness, still the dial hubs are kinda clunky and plasticy looking.
I'm nitpicking though, that CL gauge (if what you say is true) is relatively tasteful and certainly easy to use. That makes it better than most gauge clusters out there. That said, it's nothing special either. And the IS300 still has some of the coolest gauges ever put in a car.

Would you prefer the base model's gauge cluster instead?
feather-throttle-not-hair

Probably not. Now that I know it's silver and not white, it doesn't really bug me much.
Again, the CL gauges are fine, but there's nothing particularly interesting about them. I would say they're roughly on the level of the gauges on my car.
The orange lettering is a little tacky, it uses the same plasticy looking needle hubs as the CL, but I do like having the tach front and center and i do like that the lettering is more "serious" and isn't italicized.
Some cars have crappy gauges, most cars have usable and perfectly fine gauges (like the CL and the 350Z) and a few cars have awesome gauges (like the IS300)
Just my opinion though.

Very nice. I remember the first time I heard my ex-IS300 drive away from me. My girlfriend at the time (now wife and only other person in the world to drive it except the new owner *sniff sniff*) pulled it up to around 3500 rpm through a parking garage headed to wherever it was and my jaw dropped, my heart stopped, and my eyes went wide. I had heard the compliments but I had NO idea it sounded THAT good. Mazzuri header, no cats, apexi WS2 catback, custom cold-air intake funneled to behind the fog light. I'll probably never forget that setup.

Don't worry. This is honestly the first time in my life I've heard someone dog the IS gauge cluster. I've always heard they're one of the best anyone's seen. I don't really understand the allure of three pod designs now...

Damn I wish I could find some Mazzuri headers... Oh well I got OBX. SRT Intake (+"race ecu"), Megan racing Catback, OBX headers (they come with a downpipe but I'm keeping that stock for the low end torque)
