In 3...2...1...
Finally got it registered/insured. I have 6 days left to get inspection done, but that shouldn't be any problem.
Having finally gotten a chance to really go over the car mechanically, I discovered that not only was the valve cover gasket leaking, but the camshaft seals as well. I plan on doing the full timing belt overhaul with the kit from Arlington Mazda, with pretty much all the common seals/gaskets/belts/water pump. At 53,000 miles, I doubt if it was ever done. At the same time, I'm probably going to do the plugs and wires, coolant flush, and synthetic oil change. Brake fluid was replaced with pads and rotors recently, so I don't think I have to worry about that.
Another thing I found out is that I have a leaking shock. This provides an opportune moment to upgrade my Miata's suspension. I'm thinking about going with some Bilsteins. Though I'm not sure what springs I'm going to run, since I think I want to retain stock ride height.
Interior wise, I have put the original shift knob back (feels awesome!) and replaced the broken glove box latch with a new one from Arlington Mazda. The weatherstripping on the doors definitely don't form a good seal (water leaks in and you can hear wind when driving). After seeing the price of replacing it, however, I think I might just try and reinforce them for the time being.
Anyone have any suggestions on the suspensions? Though I do plan on doing auto-x and won't mind a stiffer ride, I will mainly be DDing the Miata. I know sparking a suspension discussion with Miata owners is like opening a never ending debate, but lets hear it!

I have a lot of wind noise as well and am interested in how to reinforce the weatherstrip

Whats the T-Belt interval on the Miatas? My mom has a NB '01 and it has like 176k miles on it. I need to check if the T-belt has been changed recently.
Also, 1.6 or 1.8?

I was told it was 60k. I have the 1.8. At this point its more preventative maintenance due to age. 20 year old rubber doesn't always hold up to well haha

Yeah I heard 60k too. Nice! 1.8. Yeah usually there is an age interval along with a mileage one. On Porsche 944's its 30k miles OR 3 years.
