Walmart has a concept truck that will revolutionize the industry. Check it out.

As much as I hate Wal Mart, I can totally get behind this.

Agree. The only thing I buy at WM is Mobil 1. They sell it in 5 quart containers and it eliminates much of the plastic you have to throw away.
As a side, they announced this week they will be purchasing $53 billion worth of goods made in the USA in the next ten years. That may make me return to WM. Have to wait and see.

So it's a Peterbilt? HA! I bet the wiring is huge spaghetti under all this.

I predict that whoever comes up with a way to recycle carbon fiber will be a gazillionaire.

I wonder how much of that is stuff they would already end up purchasing, that doesn't seem terrible impressive. A bit over $400,000,000 per month. Across all walmarts that doesn't seem like it would be much more than they already do if I had to guess?

Hard to say. I remember when they had signs all thru the store that said "Made in America".

Yes, but unfortunately it will never be as good as recycling metal. Chemically it just doesn't work that way.

I can never understand with trailers being standardized, and the massive amounts of fuel used as to why it has taken so long for the industry to make major changes for efficiency.

Because trailers last forever and they already have thousands of them. Spend the money once and they're good for 40 years. A carbon trailer is going to cost a gazillion dollars. It'll take a long time to recoup the cost.
Weight isn't the issue with fuel consumption. Wal-Mart loads are quite light already. Consumer goods are mostly lightweight packing material. Aero drag is a lot more significant than rolling friction due to weight. And there's only so much you can do to a box to make it slippery.

Very true. But it is an excellent opportunity for somebody who has a very different skill set than myself.
