This is one of them. There are others !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
And if you'd like to see some other cars , you can find those pictures !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
I'm pretty amateur with a camera, so feel free to share your advice and cusswords.

I've never been to 100 Acre Wood. What's that part of Missouri like? I've never gone because I always assumed it'd be too rednecky.

It's about time you posted the photos, you lazy jackass!

It's extremely rednecky. Once you get out of town, ever house you pass has five or six broken cars out front. But they're nice folks, anyway, and the driving roads have to be some of the best in the Midwest. They're well-paved (except for the dirt ones) and banked appropriately as they twist through the Ozark hills. I highly recommend it.

Hmm. I might give it a go some time. I always go to Sno* Drift, Ojibwe and LSPR, since I can drive to all of them in a day or so. 100 Acre Wood is only about 6 hours away, so I should shun my prejudices and just go.
EDIT: spelling.

Deal with it. I slept in my car on Friday night, drove 4 hours to KC on Saturday night, tried to relax on Sunday, and spent yesterday working, even though I was sick. And I would have posted more when I was in Salem, but the wireless from the closed ice cream joint next to the Holiday Inn was the best I could do for a data connection. And even that was password protected. I had to get it from the Subway girls next door.
So I'm actually making pretty good time.
Did you see my video?

Totally worth a six hour trip. Just book your hotel room now or plan to camp.

I did see your video. Nice job staying composed for the camera when inside you head you're going "OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODITSKENANDTRAVISOHMYGOD!" ;)

Pretty much. And I wasn't exactly starstruck, because they were both so chill and disarming. But I was nervous about taking up their time. They were both at control, and I didn't want to screw anything up.
When I ended Travis' interview, he said, "Sorry, I talk forever." Ha! I would have let him keep talking!

That looks like a lot of fun. I'm hoping to make it to Climb to the Clouds this year.

Awesome pics. I've got a question on this one of the Volvo with the conrod and assorted broken bits. What is the part that looks like a round shaft with only the end of it machined? It isn't part of the conrod or wrist pin. Doesn't look beefy enough to be part of the crank, so I'm confused.

I have no idea. But if you can track down the driver, Ian Topping, of Flying Moose Racing, he might be able to tell you.

I haven't personally had much face time with Ken Block, but I am told by those that have that Ken is pretty easy to talk to and down to earth despite his 'FAME".
I had dinner with Travis and his entourage a few years ago and he is a cool dood. We talked about motocross most of the evening - he even laughed at my lame jokes. Pretty chill.
Nice photos @ first look.

pieces of camshaft or balance shaft ?
![]() 02/25/2014 at 20:41 |

Could be balance shaft. No expert on Volvo, but every other cam shaft I've seen has lobes way closer to the end than they could be on this one.

If it came out of the bottom of the engine, it's a balance shaft. You're right about the cams having lobes closer to a bearing support - makes sense.

I think you're right about the balance shaft. This isn't a Volvo, but looks similar as did the other ones in the GIS. Also would have come out of the right spot judging from the other bits and pieces that are with it.

Nice job on the pics! I'm from STL and take the kids down to the 100Acre Wood Rally every year. Really is great but please quit talking about it online...I don't want this thing going all NASCARy on me!

Thanks!
But more hype means more rally, and more rally is always better. Never fear. Rally is the cure for NASCAR, not its heir.
