And a lot of blowing and drifting. Since the snow at the edge of the driveway is pretty close to 4 feet high, when the wind blew things drifted just about level with that. It was interesting getting the driveway opened up on Saturday. Here is a picture showing how deep the snow was relative to my tractor. I wasn't actually stuck and was in the middle of the driveway, not trying to drive through the yard. The tractor is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with a 47" snow blower on the front.
The county was driving around with these ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , not mine) trying to keep roads open. They were mostly successful, I only heard of one road being officially closed. Though I'm sure a lot of the minor back roads were practically closed if not officially closed.
I would imagine they will be out with the blowers for the next few days getting the roads back to full width. Driving to dinner last night there were several sections of road that were down to barely wide enough for two cars, and a spot or two where I'm pretty sure you couldn't get two cars through. And since the banks in those spots are 6-7 feet high the plows aren't able to push them back. So they use really big snow blowers. The trucks actually have two engines, one to drive the truck and one to run the blower. Plus the rear axle can be angled to help keep the truck pushed in to the snow bank.

Nice tractor. As someone who lives in the mid-atlantic I'm jealous of your real snow.

Geez, where are you?

Upper midwest. The 30 year average is around 200" of snow per snow season (fall through spring). This year the official is around 160" to date but we've had no thaws so there is a ton on the ground.

Thanks, I've had it for 5 years now and love the tractor. Had some issues with the snow blower, but maybe I've got them sorted out now. Either that or I just chased them a little bit further down the line. My theory is that the blower is designed for around 100" of snow a year. This year we had that in about 5 weeks from mid-December to mid-January. One of these days I'll dig up some pics of the snow blower mods that I did this winter and put together a post.

Ahh, much worse than us over in the Metro Detroit area. I think we're near 90 for the year so far.

Do they still use the single stage snowthrower? I grew up pushing one of those in front of a 112:
It was always getting clogged up if it was wet. Rugged tractor though!

Yeah, and the snow is pretty localized around here. The snowfall totals went down when they moved the official measuring location. The neighboring county is over 200" so far this year.
For Detroit 90" is a lot. I actually grew up in Farmington Hills.

Yeah we broke a record for January snow accumulation this year. And interestingly enough I'm sitting in Farmington Hills right now.....
yeah its been a tough winter by our standards. We haven't had much in the way of good thaws either. I've got piles pushing 4 feet high up at the end of the driveway.....you know how the old bungalow neighborhoods are...I have no where to put it all!

Mine is a two stage. Here it is with the guts removed a few weeks ago while I was modifying it. With the amount of snow that we get I wouldn't have even considered a single stage.
