Just outside of campus, I finally saw a MkIV in the exact same spec as mine parked on the street. Silver GTI with some beautiful Santa Monica wheels. No open spaces around it, so I couldn't get any pics, but here's an old pic of mine for reference:

Whenever I see people with the exact same car as mine (944) I always get all excited and try to talk to them, it makes me just want to immediately be friends with them because we obviously both have the same taste

I still haven't found anyone with a Volvo like mine….but I own the reincarnation of my friends E30, after I bought it he saw it and thought it was his old car :p
Nice wheels btw, hardly ever see those

Yep! Although I've seen plenty of MkIV GTIs, even a few silver 1.8Ts, this is the first time I've seen one that even has the same (somewhat uncommon) wheels.

Looks like my old GTI, except I put a black grill on mine.
When I was in college I would see a girl driving around town in a Rave Green Vr6. We would always wave or nod to each other to acknowledge our superior choice in automobiles. Strange how GTI owners acknowledge a weird unspoken bond between them.

Thanks! They seem to be fairly uncommon, but they're honestly my favorite VW wheel, especially on a silver car. The bare metal finish + grey inserts do a good job of complimenting what would otherwise be a pretty dull color.
They also did a version of them for the Beetle with matte silver painted spokes and body colored, finned inserts. They looked goofy as Hell, but kinda awesome at the same time.

Funny you should mention the grille :P that pic is a couple years out of date, I only used it since it shows my wheels. I actually did this back in November:
There used to be a rave green GTI around here too, but I haven't seen it in a while and it was always parked when I did, so I never saw the owner.

Nice grill. Also, good job keeping the headlights relatively haze-free. Assuming it's a 1.8T? Any other upgrades?
I used to have a GIAC X+ tune, Magnaflow 2.5" catback and downpipe, forge diverter, Carbonio cold air intake (looked pretty but stupidly overpriced), and an N75J valve. Loved that car, thing sounded mean and was pretty peppy. I remember that the guy who installed the exhaust was really surprised at how quick it was.

I actually had to scrub the shit out of them with a restoring kit. You can see how nasty they were in the first shot :P It's a 1.8t, previous owner installed a neuspeed CAI and Magnaflow muffler. To that I've added a 14lb single mass flywheel (stock is 20lb dual mass), 300 ft*lb clutch, and APR Stage 1 (stock, 91, 93, and 100 octane programs). Past that, I'm planning on throwing on a new suspension this summer and maybe fabricating a rear x-brace sometime.

Haha, I tried to restore mine but it was hopeless. Looks like you did a nice job.
You reminded me that I had also dropped in a lightened flywheel and uprated clutch on mine, mostly because the original one got shredded. Jealous of the APR, I always wanted APR but it was cheaper and easier to get the GIAC. I really liked the GIAC but not getting APR is a small thing that has always bugged me.
I have a BMW 335 now and I am constantly torn between getting a Burger JB4 and keeping it stock because its my daily, it has 80k on the odo. and I have a house/wife/child that I should be spending my money on. One day I'm going to cave and just do it so that I don't have the same regrets as I do about the APR. Oh well, first world problems.
