This means you.

For that money you can get a more reliable used car. But you still wouldn't have a Yugo :')

Everyone does not need a Yugo under any circumstance. I wonder how many of these are left?

In the states they're quite rare. Go to Eastern Europe and you see them everywhere. Hell they even have a couple of race series based around them, I might still have some videos of them running around this awesome race track in Macedonia.

No?
Well, Aygo!

Like fully built race cars in a spec race series. Think spec miata racing with yugos.

I would have probably bought one of them if I had been old enough when they came out (I was 11). I was fascinated with cars from communist countries.

Yeah, the story of Yugo and Malcolm Bricklin is actually super fascinating. I read The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History a couple years ago. It's exceptional. I highly, highly recommend it. I've actually been meaning to do a post on Bricklin for awhile. Incredible career.

I want to find one as a project car. Why you ask? Because they look retro, and they also are beyond cheap.

For a car that sold almost 150k in the US less than 30 years ago 85-92 I can't say I've ever actually seen one. A friend of mine in high school had his dad bring him home a car he thought was a Yugo but he just thought that because he didn't know how to pronounce "Peugeot". (We didn't have much internet access back then, obviously).
Also there's this, from Wikipedia:
Many mechanics and even Zastava factory workers agree that the "best" Yugos ever built were built between 1988 and early 1991. Quality control was good, high standards were set in terms of plastic quality, seat cloth, and "well screwed together" interior.
So, um, yeah.

It's the ultimate badass car. You see one of those on the road, you know that (a) driver knows auto repair, and (b) driver does not give a fuck.

That would be me with my accord the DOESN'T have a manual. lol. But I want one so bad. You can get them super cheap, and an engine can be bought for around 100.

That was what they were brand new. I've seen them as low as $900 in the states. The would be cheap as hell if you were in Europe.

I used to see them occasionally when I was a young teen (2000ish) with plastic sheeted windows, rust, and broken trim. Only seen one in the flesh the past ten years, I think.

I test-drove one new, and then went back to the deluxe accommodations of my '83 Escort.
A blender on high. Maybe there was a fifth gear, maybe there wasn't. I would have rather, and later did, spend less on a old VW.
