This is The Opposite Locker - FarOut Fridays where we try and sort out the cool from the square when it comes to the automobiles of tomorrow (concept cars). This is a discussion system detailing how cool a car is, not how fast, fun, or frivolous it may be, but how well it looks in the cat's pajamas. But, you may be asking, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?

The coolness of a concept car is as much about what the concept can spawn when the ideas and design theories reach the marketplace as it is about the car in its current state holding use in one of our current hypothetical lives.

New Kid on the Block
Due to Infiniti's fair weather relationship with Red Bull Racing, the Nissan luxury subsidiary released a concept for a faster version of their Q50 sedan. If the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! makes it to production it would compete with the BMW M5 (Or maybe the M3; I can't seem to wrap my head around their new naming hierarchy). The Eau Rouge may be ostentaciously pointless, even with it's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but could this winged sedan have the power to fly away if released?

I challenge the GT4 Stinger and IDx.
You have them backwards. Stinger should be Fly as Hell, IDx should be cool.
Just look at this thing, and remember it's the size of a BRZ with 315 horsepower.

I don't think we use the Anna Kendrick test well. I doubt she would like the Volvo concepts as much as the ones considered uncool

Challenges only work if I've vetoed them

Yea, I think the Stinger should be Fly as Hell.

So veto it damnit.

I think it's time to bring The Opposite Locker back from sabbatical.

yeah? What cars do you want to see on the block?

The new Miata seems a perfect candidate.
Have you already done the new WRX?

No, but I will.
I took my hiatus because I didn't know how to make people vote based off of coolness, where they were all just voting based off whether they like the car or not.
Any ideas?

Well, people tend to like the cars they think are cool, but...
How about, since you've got the James Dean/Steve McQueen thing going, asking the question in that respect?
Would Steve McQueen (or other cool, car-loving celebrity/racer) drive this car?
Hell yes.
Maybe.
Probably not.
Hell no.
* You'd better make it "a young Steve McQueen", not the old, rich one.
