Because it is one of the issues that tends to bring the worse in people.

Well considering how broken the system is and how ignorant the general population is and how politicians are generally lying conniving bastards it's to be expected.

post a nsfw image next time you are in a discussion thread. Why? It is mostly men arguing about this or that. Freedom this, Obama that, guns this, China that. THEN... you see this,

Kinja'd!!!

only then will everyone unite and be like daaaayum and begin agreeing on everything :]

I agree. If the Liberal Case wasn't such an intellectual argument, the rural conservative base might be able to wrap their heads around the fact that neoconservatism is not in their best interest. We gotta dumb things down but seem incapable of doing so.

I hate how bipartisan our system is (including the media). It seems like the country is split in two, when in reality it's not. What if someone leans liberal on economics, but is conservative on the moral issues? Or vice versa?

That, and it's hard to get liberals to stand behind any one issue, candidate, or ideology. I think it's because most liberals myself included see nuances in issues that people who think differently from us either can't or won't see.

Just today I asked a libertarian friend how Austrian Economics could lead to more individual freedom when in practice it often led to a feudalist oligarchy. He couldn't answer.

Then I asked him why he hated the idea of Rhine Capitalism so much, and why so many confuse it with socialism or communism when we try to implement it in the US. Once again he couldn't answer.

Then I explained the basic tenets of Rhine Capitalism to him and how it's the most successful economic model for democracy and equality — at least in the developed world. He couldn't respond except by repeating the same Rand-Friedman-Hayek talking points he gets from the Objecticist pages he follows on Facebook.
