I think it made a pretty drastic difference. Unfortunately, the 5 LED map light bulbs are basically covered by the housing. Only one LED is actually visible so the inside of my headliner is super bright. This is irritating. I'm sure I could cut the housing with a hobby knife, but at 9:30 last night I wasn't willing to do that. Please ignore the messy interior. What do you guys think?

Additional photos in reply because mobile kinja hates me!

Well... it's a dome light, and it's doing its job that is to light the car's interiors. Moving on.

Thanks! I would definitely recommend it. The lights cost me $20 including shipping. What else can you spend twenty dollars on that actually makes a difference? High octane gas? Haha

SuperBrightLEDs.com
Some people have suggested Amazon or ebay, as well.

Yeah, but it's kinda like commenting. Sometimes it's done well and adds to the thread, while other times it's pointless and dismissive.

His new bulbs add to his enjoyment of the car...

Do you have the "soft off" where the lights dim to go out, and if so, does it still function that way? I have heard that the LED's don't always behave well with them.

Yeah, I think it's called theatre lighting. I was worried about that but these actually work exactly the way they should. No flashing, and no extended period of fading.

Look good! I did the same in my miata a few weeks ago and ran a strip in each footwell. It's a lot more lighted now

I have LEDs in mine and at least I can confirm that the 'dimming' works just fine.

On really, really cold mornings you can see that the LEDs are 'on' in the sense that there seems to be some current going through, but when it isn't Hoth, no issues. On and off as normal, dim as normal; no issues. So far. But I've had them for a year so its not like they'll just blow up now.

I can't seem to find any, and my phone doesn't do well in the dark. The only thing I don't like is that when you stand behind the car you can see the individual lights. I like seeing the soft glow a lot better haha

Luckily the mazda lights are fairly well hidden. I wouldnt call this a glow, though. This is more like the sun being mounted inside the roof. Haha
