My grandfather then told me about an F1 race he saw at the 'Ring back in the early 70s when a car caught on fire, the driver got out and walked back to the pits. He then went on about watching Hunt and Lauda on TV. He's German btw.

That actually is really cool you know someone who was in Europe in 70s who followed F1, especially someone so close to you. My redneck relatives' favorite racing memory is seeing Donnie Allison beat the shit out of Cale Yarborough at the 1979 Daytona 500 so that gives you an idea of what I got to work with :|

I'm feeling an Oppo Cars & Coco meet up :D Until tonight I had no clue he even cared about F1. When he talks about motor sports he usually just complains about Danica Patrick.

Lol he sounds like he'd get along well with my uncles. Apparently Danica belongs in Jamie Hinchcliffe's kitchen making him dinner and Juan Pablo Montoya should be waiting outside Home Depot with all the other 'Mexicans' smh. Regardless I'm jealous of you man, maybe you can drop by his house on Sundays and watch a race with him. :)
