I just drift when I'm bored or my time is already crap in autocross and I want to have a "talk" with the officials. I do so in all my vehicles, because they are all RWD.

I've never drifted intentionally. Bricks were shat.

Uh, well... no. I sadly have a FWD Honda. If there was snow, then yes, call me Gitten Jr. II.

Casually trying. I go to the hills and empty streets to practice with my S30. I don't ever e-brake (I did at first), but now I just slam on the clutch. How about yourself? With your s30 or a beater?

I only own the S30 .. and I'm working on a motor swap now .. I'm sure the LS with a T56 will be more than enough power to slide .
With the stock motor it was pretty difficult especially with a open diff.. I'll end up welding my diff while I have a new one on the way .
With the stock set up and stiffer suspension lift off oversteer was the only way to initiate a drift . just come in to the corner a little hot let off let my the weight shift to the front and then back on the gas and it slides pretty well .. I dont live far enough up north to get snow drifting in but I'm not complaining Austin is great

I put in an R200 from a 280zx which made things easier for me. You're right about the LS with its crazy power, it is more than enough. I am jealous that you're doing it too lol, but I prefer sticking to rooted Nissan engines, then again we all have different tastes. Good luck with your swap bro! I always like seeing your progress with the posts.
Keep practicing and stay safe. I've seen some crazy ass wreckage with people I feel are too cocky to try it out. Check out the drift bible by the DK himself Tsuchiya. It gives great pointers if you're trying it out elsewhere.

well my S30 is a 280z and it came with a R200 diff .. Does the 280zx diff have a limited slip !?!?!?!?!?!!

Sadly no. Here you go:
previous owner said he put in this
Told me otherwise he got it from a 280zx. Japanese old dude so I trusted him lol

Not officially or anything just donuts n stuff in parking lots, or a little power oversteer on back roads. 350z understeers mostly when you're not overwhelming the rear tires with power.
I also enjoy sliding my car around in the dirt. But I would not consider myself any good at actual drifting.

I've done some e-brake drifting in my S13...but then my welded diff had an "uh-oh" (that incidentally didn't likely have anything to do with the fact that it was welded), and now I'm on an open diff.
My car isn't really low enough to drift successfully on an open diff (excessive body roll ends up lifting the inside tire enough that it just sits and spins).

lucky for you the parts for any s13 s14 s15 are dirt cheap compared to the Datsun 280z I've got .. I might as well have bought a ferrari (not really)
