I just received an interesting email from work. Given that the state of South Carolina is currently in the midst of a state of emergency, due to the rare ice storm that has covered the state, most of the area is shut down. Apparently, I am considered essential personnel, and thus should call the National Guard to pick me up, in the event I can't drive to work. RWD+Ice+Sport All Season tires = I might need some help...
On a related note, I watched a guy learn that his GT500 is not the ideal car to drive in the snow. His girlfriend helped push the car to get out of the parking spot. Happy Valentine's Day indeed.
Photo is from the recent Porsche exhibit at the NC Museum of Art.

I'm interested to know what you do that is so essential it warrants a ride from the NG.

Work for a hospital.

National Guard?! Who are you, 007?

That was my guess. Be safe.

If they suggested you call Seal Team 6, you must be horribly underpaid.

sweet, get that NG on the case. If it snows 8 inches and I'm more than an hour late, they just assume im taking the day off. Utah.

He hasn't said, but if he's a NP or a surgeon I can see why the Hospital would want him there no matter what, especially in the middle of a crisis.

Would a surgeon read or contribute to oppo? I'm thinking he's in charge of the emergency generator.

Yeah the people driving those are usually lower ranking enlisted with little experience driving humvees. Oh and they are very poorly maintained, if at all. That's how we roll in active duty anyways.

Hehe, our local city pd got one that had been in Iraq for 2 years, that thing is a POS. And parts are a bitch to find, at least for us at O'Reilly.

Oh yeah that thing didn't get maintained I guarantee it. The thing with the army is like how you do a beater, nothing gets done unless something is broken. And from what I have heard is a lot of the parts you can only get through the military. I don't know if that is 100% true, but it wouldn't surprise me. I mean hell when I as a lowly pfc I hooned the shit out of them. Had an e5 that didn't give a damn. As they say in the army as long as you bring back the pieces and have a decent lie you can break anything

Why not?

Well, I know for sure that they are still finding sand in unlikely places on that one. And also that the frame was very slightly bent.

Oh yeah, and it will never stop. It's like ya reappears when you aren't looking. And the frame is bent? If it was a base only truck they probably hit a few hundred walls with it
![]() 02/13/2014 at 00:01 |

It's bent like how Raptor frames get bent, from what the mechanics told me.
![]() 02/13/2014 at 07:43 |

How do those get bent? I know nothing about raptors

I would expect a surgeon would have better things to do.

Like what? If a persons interests lean toward cars and they have come here before and enjoy it, Their professional life is a non-sequitur; everyone is welcome. It's not like we don't have high-income people come in here; there's a guy who owns an SLS , another who purchased a Ferrari and regularly blogs about it, another person who purchased a 12c and has put a deposit on a 918 Spyder (~$1,000,000 car), and an actual cancer doctor who shared his experience with Audi quattro in the snow. If your interests align with those of the site and forum, your personal and professional life aren't impediments to being here at all.
