It looks cool, but that can't be good for the car or the environment

If i understand right, the combustion is happening on the outside of the exhaust when the superheated exhaust is mixing with the oxygen rich air and igniting unburnt hydrocarbons. It probably cools the exhaust tip because the heat is being conducted out increasing the flow. no harm to car or environment (well, more than is already being done)

That area of the car makes use of the exhaust for more downforce, its so clever that if you watch the flame you'll barely notice turbulence of randomness. It is consistently flaming, and always in the same manner.
THAT is awesome.
