My response to Yourstereotypicalindian's question down below. Yeah, obviously anyone who see's the ///AMG badge is gonna know it's fast, but they probably won't understand exactly what the RENNTECH badge means. Short answer, it slays modified GTR's on the drag strip. Oh sweet baby jesus that sound...

Even if you don't know what renntech means, no one is going to think 'They make the car slower, right?' AMG would be suspicious already. Anything added to that would make me think 'modded car' no matter what it says.

Its only a sleeper if you don't think MBs can be fast, and don't know anything about AMGs.

It's a sleeper in the same sense that a Saturn V rocket is a sleeper. And by that, I mean it's not a sleeper at all. It's not "wrong" per-se, but it's sort of unnecessary. Nobody posts an article about the new BMW M5 titled "Crazy Sleeper DINAN M5 Destroys X At Drag Strip". If it were a Volvo Wagon, then I'd be inclined to agree with you. And it's a cool post you've got here (even though I'm racist against AMG's and Mercedes in general). So don't get me wrong.

For one, if you're at a drag strip, you're probably in-the-know with regards to automobiles. If you're not, you're probably in the stands.

Second, at a bare minimum a person who hears the death roar of an AMG engine at idle is pretty well inclined to think that the car goes fast at times.

Third, it has exterior modifications (not to mention AMG badges everywhere). Again at a bare minimum, to a layman, it looks special. Cars that look special generally go fast.

A sleeper requires context as well, it's inherently designed to be misleading and not just unassuming. This is not, it's a purpose-built and tuned rocketship that functions/appears as such.

Again, it's not "wrong" in the truest sense of the word. Sure, it's a big lumbering four-door silver tube (hence the Saturn V simile) that isn't a mid-engined Ferrari knife. But we might as well call all high-performance and/or tuned cars (see Hamann, DINAN, Brabus, Ruf, ) sleepers.
