I have a neighbor who, in my opinion, is a douche. I am not going to list every reason I feel this way about him...it would take too long and is a pointless exercise. The only reason I said this was because I want to recognize that there is some bias in what I am about to post.
My neighbor's DD is a late-90's/early 2000 white Jeep Cherokee much like this:
As recently as last year or so, said neighbor's summer car became this:
Good for you, sir. Good. For. You.
But, where does he park this beauty? ON THE STREET.
Is our street particularly busy? No. Some kids, like his, play on it. Some cars cut through. He's one lot away from the corner of a main road so there's some buffer area when people turn onto the street and the sun's glare is bad. However, he has a small garage. AND A DRIVEWAY!
Funny story about this driveway: he doesn't do anything with it. His wife parks her car in it, but that's about it. He doesn't shovel it during the winter (he doesn't even shovel the path to his front door). Instead, he has a friend back into his garage and plow the driveway, pushing allllll the snow into my family's yard. This had torn up part of our yard in the past so one year my mom but an end to this practice. This was maybe three years ago.
Since then, he still doesn't shovel. He leaves his Jeep on the street during big storms so plows have to go around him. He's been plowed in a couple times, too, when the drivers get sick of him not moving his car. One plow literally drove back up the street to push as much snow as possible in front of it...I died laughing (shoveling at the time if you can believe it).
Recently, his wife bought a new Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited (and I hate her for it !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). Her car looks like the one below.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I was visiting my family yesterday and noticed that there was a sizable wall of snow left behind by the plows. Thankfully my family's driveway was clear so I got in no problem. My neighbor's wife got home and tried to turn into the driveway and plow through the wall to her snow-covered driveway. This did not work very well with only 2WD on so she got stuck. HERE COMES THE 4WD! GUUUUUNNNNN IIIIITTTT!!!!
How'd that turn out? Did 4WD make her invincible?
No.
She was eventually able to back out of her driveway, line up her car and make it into her driveway (which had no incline whatsoever by the way). Good for her.
But it got me thinking...are there people out there who do not deserve some cars? I don't mean "stop selling CUVs and "SUVs" to people because they aren't real SUVs." What I actually mean is are there people, like my neighbor, who has a Jeep Wrangler Sahara or Porsche Carrera that you feel just do not treat the car right or let it live to it's potential.
Although, in the case of my neighbor, that Wrangler is a good call so long as he doesn't shovel.

Funny thing, my neighbor, who is also a Douche, drives a late 90s/early 2000s black Jeep Cherokee. He keeps it in immaculate condition though. His wife drives a red Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited exactly like the one in the picture. He also has a an ~02 Tahoe with chrome wheels that they have had forever.

It galled me to not purchase my deceased father's Mazda3 and instead have it 'inherited' (read: given for free because he's a special snowflake) by my idiot twin brother, who could not care less about it or cars in general. Sure, it's a Mazda3, not an M3 or anything, but the kid drives it like an old woman, never accelerating with spirit, taking corners extremely slow, never actually enjoying the driving experience, the ace in the hole of the Mazda. He doesn't maintain it, never monitors fluid level or tire wear or abnormal noises (he ground the back brake pads to the metal and had no fucking clue he had), and lets his friends in college borrow it to hoon it like idiots. That car should be driven and cared for by someone who loves it, not to be wasted on some ignorant, stereotypical millenial who doesn't deserve it. And yes, I'm fucking bitter about it.

My neighbor who is actually an amazingly awesome guy has a 700whp S-10 dragster, green stock '71 GTO, and a 2012 F-350 XLT. His wife just sold her S40 and got a V10 Diesel Touareg. They are super cool and jalop. He helps me work on my BMW sometimes.

Damn that sucks. If he wants his cars to be ruined then hell, lol he "deserves" it.
I have an Uncle who's mad crazy over an EVO. Specifically EVO X MR... yet he could not afford it. So he ends up buying a base model GTS and sprays on the front to look like an EVO and he barely drives it: only for work, groceries, food, etc... Our family even gets annoyed that he won't even take it on road trips nor places that's 30-40 mins away. It's mileage is even under 60,000 and its an 08' model.
We all have an urge to " DRIVE " our cars to even its full potential, but this guy, my goddamn uncle doesn't deserve his Lancer nor a "future" EVO.

I see this all the time with cars that come into the shop. Mainly someone who has no knowledge of maintenance or care for a car that wants to buy a vintage Mercedes or BMW. They buy a nice one, and each time they bring it in it's in worse and worse condition both mechanically and aesthetically.
It saddens me to see them slowly get beat up.

(Side note. Using the "/whatever" syntax goes at the end of whatever it is you are doing. So, if you're ranting, "/rant" would go at the end. This is an extremely nerdy shoutout to HTML and/or XML, which follow the basic structure
Your neighbor sounds like an asshat.

Technically, I think we'd need to separate the belief that deserving something is based on appreciation and/or use as intended. Technically (outside of theft) anyone who has legally collected the money to purchase some object deserves it if they want it...but I think we can all agree that there are an inordinate number of car purchasers who don't appreciate their vehicles as the designers and builders DESERVE for their efforts. I'd say most car purchasers in fact. But such is life.
Also, your neighbors sound like they'd be a delight at dinner parties.

Why do you care if he shovels his driveway? I never shovel mine either , because I don't have to. I can drive in and out with a few inches of snow, and the sun will melt it in a few days anyway. I'm annoyed enough I have to shovel the sidewalk or get fined. The neighborhood kids don't even use it anyway because their parents all sit in their cars waiting for the bus.

The neighbor lady doesn't shovel the driveway, either. #sexism
But, as far as capitalism goes, they're just fine and dandy. Do I like that fact that someone won't even shovel their driveway? No. The driveway I grew up on is a steeper one, so if it's unshoveled you're effed. And as for parking a Porsche on the street... I'm sure it's just another 911, and your city may not have ordinances on long-term street parking. So that's *shrug* at best. :\

One thing that set my bias against this guy is that my dad was talking to him when they moved in. Turns out he was a Patriots season ticket holder (as was my dad). He split the games with friends and for big ticket matchups would AUCTION OFF THE TICKETS TO HIS OWN FRIENDS to see who would go.
I read that as "I scalp tickets to my buddies." Set the tone right from week one for me.

Dude, we're like complete polar opposites of each other to the point it's not even funny. The only way we could be more different is if one of us had a vagina, that's about it.
