So I was trying to put my SSD into a different iPod this morning. While plugging in the ZIF connector I must have gone into hulk smash mode because I busted the shit out of that little connector and effectively killed my SSD. Luckily they are much cheaper now than when I first bought one. I might even spring for a 120gb drive.

I have a 4th gen ipod and I put a new battery in it a couple months ago because I lost my 2nd gen touch and realized my old 4th gen still worked. I'm considering putting an ssd into it because it's cheaper than a new one. Every so often the current hard drive won't start up which is actually why I stopped using it in the first place several years ago

For the fourth generation iPods try this : http://www.instructables.com/id/Convert-you…
I did this for a 8gb ipod for my daughter. It works good.

Thanks. I actually saw that a couple weeks ago when I was researching it. I have a 20gb now, and I've just about filled that, so I might try to go for a 40 or 60 gb hard drive. Everyone tells me it would be cheaper to buy a new one, but the new classics are 250$ with way more memory than ill ever need. A new hard drive setup should cost less than a hundred plus I love my old ipod and the shock people have when they see how old it is.
