So I was over my neighbor's house setting up a TV for him and I noticed that his sound system was lacking some...oomph. I checked if the sub was working, and what do you know, it wasn't! Once I finished setting everything up for him I asked if I could take the sub back to my house to see if I could fix it. He said sure so next thing I know I'm walking home with a heavy ass subwoofer in my arms.
I tried to set it up many different ways but none worked. I looked at the manual I found online and that didn't help at all. So I had to take the rear cover off to get into the guts of the thing. It took a while to get the cover off because it had some sort of seal around it (only because it hadn't been taken off before), but eventually I did get it off.
The stupid thing had mouse crap plastered everywhere inside it. Great . Well, I go vacuum that out (plus the noodles the mice horded inside of it), then bring it back to my room. After snooping around inside it for a while I see a cable is unplugged from the power source to the main board. Yeah that's probably not good. So I plug that back in, plug the sub into the wall, and success! We have power lights!
It's not a terrible sub, but it's not great either. The model is a Polk Audio PSW303B. Great bass, but the response isn't super quick. I think it's only an 8 inch so it should be better but whatever, it's not my sub lol. If I remember correctly, it hadn't been working for at least 5 years, so now my neighbor's speaker system will sound much better.

We call this effect "the laying on of hands." In support or maintenance parlance, it's the seeming act of just touching things, making sure they're correct, and then reassembling to find that, Hey!, it works again.
I'm embarrassed, and proud both, to say that I've used this type of talent to woo ladies, accomplish great feats of seeming engineering, and actually fixed things that the doubters thought were broken forever.

Yep, easy to do but you still get satisfaction and rewards. Win win!
