Sounds like you need some traction... ;)

Thats what I was going to say.. if you have a truck or suv in snow, obvious answer for traction is obvious

I already have 5 50 pound bags of salt and a thing of kitty litter in the back.

Are you on bald summer tires?

Mis-matched all-seasons. It's my winter beater car, they came with those tires. It's terrible on the snow. I got stuck in my parking space yesterday, snow was melting and the car couldn't get over the 2 inch bump of ice that was holding it in. It took four guys and some kitty litter to get it out.

If it's ice, unless you are running studs or chains, you will be stuck doing the same thing more often than not. I have had 4WD/AWD cars stuck in similar situations to the one you describe. It's just a matter of a hard, slick surface, and mechanical disadvantage.

Ice is miserable without chains or studs available.

Yeah, I should invest in some of these plates (like the ones rally trucks have).

I actually use my chains like that sometimes. I'm too lazy to put them on and know I don't need them beyond the parking lot, so I just lay them down like a track to drive on.

Better yet, a Rhino-lined exterior!

mhmmm.... FSJ

doesn't mention it, but thats not its original grille. Its got one of the kaiser era "rhino" grilles, whether its real or not would be nice to know (good condition originals are getting pretty hard to find)

also, the rocker panel in that first pic looks kinda sketchy. looks like a pretty good sized dent
