What's the Most Obscure Example of GM Parts Sharing?

Everyone knows that GM loves to share parts between their models. Some are quite obvious, such as the C6 Corvette sharing a steering wheel with the Cobalt. Others are more obscure.

In 1993, when Chevrolet decided to give the Lumina APV a facelift, new headlights were a given. The narrow, rectangular headlights were replaced by some new aerodynamic units. However, those headlights weren't new at all.

In fact, those headlights already had a home on the 1992-1995 Pontiac Bonneville. With different corner markers and some chrome trim at the bottom, they got a whole new look and a new lease on life on Chevy's minivan.

I'm sure there are other examples like this in GM's portfolio.

I believe the Chevrolet Captiva has Commodore headlights.

GM 4T65E on Volvo XC90, what a horrid trans :(

I have many scars on my hands to prove it, I loath this thing

How about the use of their headlights/taillights on the Weinermobile?

As much as other parts get shuffled around in the portfolio, I'm always amazed by their engine trickery. Main example: The I4 and I5 in the Colorado and Canyon are simply Trailblazer I6s with a cylinder or two lopped off.

Not exactly what you're meaning but interesting nonetheless. Callaway C12 which was based on C5 Corvette used Opel/Vauxhall Tigra rear lights.

If I remember correctly, some Ferrari 400s had GM automatic trannys

I believe the HHR and the Cobalt coupe share tail lights.

I don't know if this counts, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Was an Oldsmobile Cutlass, top chopped and modified to drive in the WSC class in IMSA. This was a GM car made into a "purpose-built" sports racer. One of a kind, I can think of no more obscure use of GM parts.

God, it's like the C12 was designed with them in mind. They look fantastic.

If we're going to allow that, then the Oldsmobile Aurora engine in the Shelby Series One is a contender, too.

The same facelifted Lumina APV shares its airbag-equipped steering wheel with the 1993-1996 and 1997-1999 Camaro

GM owns Opel, and the Callaway C12 is a C5 Corvette, so that does count.

I believe the C6R uses the electric AC compressor from a Volt

There were some BMWs, Jaguars, and Rolls Royces, too.

Yes, that's a good one. I believe they were Firebird taillights and Grand Prix headlights.

Pontiac Solstice and GMC Envoy reverse lights.

The fogs/turn signal are from a Grand Prix. But then Solstice was meant to be a parts bin car that shares almost everything except body panels.

Fine by me because that just means to fix my car it's just an easy junkyard find.
