I always tell my boys, "Remember, when you're in the middle of nowhere, you're halfway to somewhere."

That's racist.

So what exactly am I looking at? Are these the names of places in Maine that happen to share names with farther away places?

I know that sign! When I lived in Maine I tried to plan a "round the world" route for a motorcycle ride. But there are so many towns named for far off places, spread so far across the state, I couldn't figure out a route I could finish in a day.
