I learned how to "drift" around a dirt corner in a FWD car. thats about it. Oh and I learned that I hate paved roads. dirt, snow, hell even grass, are all a lot more fun. haha

Inherited a Mazda 323 that needed a fair amount of work. totally revamped it for just under $600 and sold it yesterday for $1500. A $900 profit.

Not a bad list! I'm mega jealous of Dirtfish!

> Drove over 30,000 miles without owning a car

> Topped out over 3 dozen cars (speed)

> Pushed an XKR-S to top speed while caught on radar (oops - no ticket due to lack of proof it was the same car)

> Off-roaded a Chevy Cruze in northern Canadian gold mines (it's pretty damn impressive - it somehow beat out the Frontier I had a week later)

> Spun a car on a highway at 60 MPH without warning (3 spins) and without hitting anyone or thing

> Jumped a Chrysler 300

I put over 20,000 miles on my E46 without a single coolant expansion tank issue.

#blessed

I barely managed 5,000 before my E46 decided that it didn't like coolant anymore. Fuck that fucking car, I'm so glad it's gone.

It's USDM, I had it shipped from America so I could drive it here (Germany) for the next few years and I'll bring it back to America when I leave.

Drove 2 different cars, on two different days (Tuesday then Monday, yeah you read that right), but within the same 24 hour period, 3000 miles apart.

Won a trophy at a car show

Pulled 2 engine/trans combos from two cars, mated the engine from one with the trans from the other and put it back in the car in 3 days, by myself

Drove in all time zones of the United States (including Alaska & Hawaii, once in Guam)

Drove a Jeep for the second time in my life

I think there are others, but I can't remember.

I thought about this, thinking how much money I poured into my car, then I immediately stopped thinking about it and changed topics in my head.

The Major Stuff Done:
- Some Airbag Sensor + other 70k service stuff $1,800
- Front Bumper Refinished + PDR $700
- Major Mods (suspension, intercooler, etc) $3,900
- Michelin Pilot Super Sports $850

I'll leave it at that...

Went to the Canadian GP as a VIP at Mercedes, drank about 3 gallons of Mum's over the week-end and met Damon Hill, my childhood hero.

Went to the Ferrari Fest at Mt. Tremblant, saw the first LaFerrari delivered in NA, saw a few V10 era F1 cars and a 333sp up close as well (corse clienti)

Drove a Tesla Model S

Mine has been great except past-due maintenance issues. If I ever get my control arms in I'll be replacing those and the FCABs this weekend.

I'm in a slightly different position than most because I work for Uncle Sam. There is some kind of agreement in place that allows employees of the US Gov't to bring their cars here and drive them on the road as long as they pass an inspection.

keep up maintenance on that haldex unit, the Saab's has issues with those. Also watch for rough idling, that could be the intake valves wearing out.

For me, I got my unicorn, the 2011 Saab 9-5

Congrats on the unicorn.

if you want to find out for sure, do a cold compression test. Obviously, lowest cylinder will have the worn valves. Replace with biopower valves, they're harder.

It's extremely fun. Far more fun than I ever thought I'd get out of a 91 hp d15. But the whole deal only weighs 1953 lbs. It's hard to gauge, though, because the suspension is shot, and it needs an alignment and one of the drive tires is Kojack bald. And there are some broken body panels, so it's not the nicest thing to look at. But I hope to restore it. It has a killer turning radius, too, making it the best city car I've ever owned.
