I think it cleans up the body lines really nicely.

It didn't mess with the rusty vagina either.

Are you going to lower it any?

Maybe. I think it'd look good a couple inches lower, but I'm not sure how much longer I'm keeping it and how much more money I'm putting into it. What I have into it now I can get close to if I sell it, and I don't see me owning it past college.

If I had plenty of money, I'd want a full ridetech kit all around to make it handle, but those are about 5 grand.

Nice plan. There's always a demand for 73-87 trucks that run.

At 5k they can keep their drop. It's got a nice Rednek Hot Rod look as is.

Agreed. There's cheaper ways to lower it (shorter Springs, drop spindles, etc) but if I was to put money into suspension, I'd want more gains than just appearance and slight performance due to lower cg.

I'm thinking I'll market it as an entry level hot rod truck. Fairly rust free (chassis is solid), 454/Turbo 400 package, some engine and performance work but a lot of room for improvement.

I'm hoping to move to a 4 speed Nova or something similar as the next vehicle.

I forgot that you had the big block. Just have fun with it.

It's a big commitment to drop 5k on the suspension, she's yours forever at that point.

Yea that's the plan. Drive it, enjoy it, spend a lot of money on gas, then kick it on down the road after school. I've pretty much bought everything I was planning on buying for it, so at this point it's just some finishing work and enjoying it.

Thanks! I've had it for about a year. 1974 Chevy C10, bought from the original owners. 454/Turbo 400 engine/trans package. I bought it after it sat in a field for a few years, got it running, and have done a good deal since then.

Where are you located? I'd be interested in buying it, when the time comes for you to sell it.

I'm in San Luis Obispo, California. About halfway between San Fran and LA.

That'd be a long haul for me (Illinois), but I'd consider it. I'm glad you're not selling it now, as I gots no moneys.

Haha and I can imagine it'd be tough to find a clean, rust free 1974 truck in Illinois! I grew up in Missouri, for whatever that's worth.

Yeah, I'm in Chicagoland. I love this body style, but most of them around here are swiss cheesed. The body mounts tend to rust away, and whatever is left the cab just kinda falls off whatever is left of the frame.

Damn road salt. This truck has a solid frame with no rust issues, and most of the rust on the body is just cosmetic. A few places (cab corners, bottom corners of the front and rear fenders, etc) have a bit of rot through, but I've been patching those up with patch panels.

Yeah, salt just eats them up. That's a great little truck you've got there, I love it. Is the 454 factory?

The long block I believe is an ATK replacement, but the truck was a factory 454.

Yes indeed! The lady I bought it from had it ordered just like that. Must've been a speed freak.

Careful. It's about $1400 to ship a full size rig from Cali to the Chicago burbs.

It's the Super Cheyenne edition, so I guess that was top of the line trim. Had AC, but that wasn't hooked up when I bought the truck (still isn't). I think it had some sort of cruise control because it had a secondary throttle cable hooked up to what looked like a vacuum system, but that was long gone when I bought the truck. Two tone paint (obviously, from the picture).

Unfortunately, it has 3.07 gears and an open diff. Haven't decided if I wanna drop the grand or so it'd take to swap in a Limited slip unit.

To be fair, it's worth it.

Their idea of "rusty" is nothing like a Chicagoan's.

Yeah, I think it would be worth it, these are all rusted out hulks around here. I'm just glad he's not selling it now, because right now I'm broke.
