Despite being dead for 5 years, it appears GM still regards the Hummer brand as a valuable, or at least potentially valuable, asset; as they have been quite diligent in maintaining a variety of trademark registrations for a dizzying array of uses for the name, many of them renewed quite recently.

Portable electric power generators

Deodorants, antiperspirants, facial cleansers, facial creams, facial scrubs, facial lotion, deodorant soap, non-medicated lip balm, cologne, perfume, after-shave gel, after-shave lotions, and shower gel.

Balloons, board games, Christmas tree ornaments, collectable toy cars, die-cast vehicle models, peddle cars, coin or non-coin operated pinball machines, plastic vehicle hobby kits for the construction of toy vehicles, plastic vehicle models, radio controlled cars, video games, namely coin-operated video games and stand-alone video game machines

Backpacks, billfolds, briefcases, business card cases, carry-on bags, credit card cases, coin cases, duffel bags, fanny packs, garment bags for travel, luggage, overnight bags, purses, sport bags, tote bags, trunks for traveling, umbrellas and wallets

Almanacs, automotive books, paper or plastic bags for merchandise, bank checks, bumper stickers, business card holders, business cards, calendars, checkbook covers, childrens activity books, cookbooks, decals, desk top holders, gift wrapping paper, greeting cards, letter openers, markers, note pad holders, note pads, paper banners, paper coasters, paper flags, paper luggage tags, paper napkins, paperweights, pen and pencil holders, pencils, pens, photo albums, pictures, playing cards, pocket secretaries, postcards, posters, printed labels, reproduction lithographic prints, stationery folders, trading and collector cards

Belt buckles for clothes, not of precious metal, embroidered emblems, hat pins, cloth patches for clothing and zipper pulls

Binoculars, calculators, photograph cameras, compasses, computer mouse pads, computer mouses, computer game software for use in arcade games, hand-held electronic games and video games, computer screen saver software, computer and video game cartridges, video game interactive hand-held remote controls, neon signs, pre-recorded video tapes featuring information on automobiles, radio antennas, radios, sunglasses, tape measures, telephones, thermometers not for medical use, tire pressure gauges, video tape rewinders, and yard sticks

Metal piggy banks, metal decorative boxes, ingots of common metal, metal key chains, metal key fobs, metal key rings, metal keys, metal license plates, non-luminous and non-mechanical metal signs, metal money clips, non-luminous and non-mechanical metal parking signs, ornamental replica vehicles made of metal, non-luminous and non-mechanical metal street signs, metal tool boxes, and metal racks

Clothing, namely, aprons, caps, coats, dress shirts, gloves, golf shirts, hats, headbands, jackets, moccasins, neckties, overalls, pants, polo shirts, rainwear, robes, scarves, shoes, shorts, sleep wear, slippers, socks, sunvisors, sweat pants, sweat shirts, sweaters, t-shirts and vests

Watches

Bicycles

Footwear and apparel, namely, socks, hosiery, underwear, hats, scarves, gloves, earmuffs, jackets, pants, shorts, skirts, shirts, sweatshirts, and sweaters

Toys, namely, toy trucks and model kits for building toy trucks

Trucks

You might say, well, every company does this, it's just all in the normal course of business. Well, not really, this level of thoroughness is restricted to GM.

For example, here's how far FCA US cares to go in protecting the Plymouth name:

Trucks and vans and structural parts thereof, for trucks and vans

Automobiles and their structural parts

And, for AMC:

Die-cast scale model replicas of motor vehicles

Now, where can I go to buy a pair of genuine Hummer overalls and a Hummer video tape rewinder?

Wait so you're telling me that we can start a new car company called AMC as long as we don't plan on making any die-cast replicas?

SWEET!

Actually, yes.

Someone already figured that out several years ago and registered the name to an "American Motors Corporation" in Palmdale, CA for use on automobiles and automobile parts, but allowed it to lapse after it expired, so it is available again.

I see nothing protecting adult toys. My "Hummer Marital Aids" business idea is still a valid one

Now if we can just get the suspension replaced on your iGP car...

Oh. Uhm...I suppose I need to officially withdraw from the iGP league

Well, only if you're leaving iGP. Your car failed due to suspension at Spain on the 12th, and has been DNS for 7 races. Next one's in 9 minutes.

I've been meaning to withdraw for a while. New house has no internet, too much hassle to keep going to internet cafe/starbucks/McDs 3 times a week, not to mention dev'ing is just out of the question.

*sigh* and I really did like it too

It's kinda surprising to me how Hummer can be so iconic considering how short lived it was. You still see Hummers pop up in movies occasionally because there's really no replacement for the big, militant SUV. Wranglers look too scrawny next to Tahoes and Suburbans, and those are sort of too civil looking. Nothing really matches the statement a Hummer makes.

They also got way out in front of the "lifestyle" branding trend, even while the brand was still with AM General. They flooded the market by slapping the Hummer name on just about any product you can think of. That helped establish the name in the public consciousness much faster.
