I went to a nice Italian restaurant here in town called East Side Mario's ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! )and decided to rank some Italian dishes, just for fun. For the record, I had the Nachos from the starters selection, because I want to slim down a bit.
5 - Caesar's Salad
4 - Chicken Parm
3- Spaghetti with meatballs
2- Fettuccine Alfredo with bacon

Good job. That fettuccine w/ bacon (and usually peas) is "carbonara." No idea why it's named that way.
Forevermore when I eat chicken Parmesan I'm going to hum the Nationwide jingle like I'm Peyton Manning. (
Chicken parm, you taste so good.)

I can't stand green peas, that's why I avoid Carbonera.

None of that looks Italian. Call it "Italian American" or whatever, but this is not Italian food.

Wait?? What.. Since when did Carbonara have peas in it? I've got a feeling you'll tell me that it should have cream and mushrooms as well next.

Carbonara sauce is a thing unto itself that's completely different from some crap alfredo sauce with bacon added to it.

I know that when I think authentic Italian, nachos are the first thing that comes to mind. Kung pao chicken right after that.

Hmmm, yeah, I just Googled this and found about 30% of them had peas. So not as common as I'd thought. It's just something to add flavor. And thank God it's not capers.

It's just that for me a proper Carbonara is pasta (usually spaghetti or fettucine) with eggs, pancetta (or bacon), black pepper and Pecorino (or Parmesan) and nothing else. I'm Norwegian though, so I might not make it the way it should be made..

I don't like green peas. I had a fight with George Carlin once over this....in my mind

Caesar salad was invented in Tijuana by a Mexican dude named Caesar.
