After years and years of Comcast, I finally pulled the trigger and scheduled for Fios to be set up.

Over the past few years, my Comcast Internet has gotten progressively worse. It used to out when it stormed. These days, it goes out when it looks like its going to storm.

To add to that, I was motivated to switch based off who Comcast was funding (I won't get into detail, but all I'll say is NAN).

Installation is next week - I'm getting more premium channels and saving $40 a month.

Has anyone else made the switch?

Florida bro here, Verizon seems to be better in our near-constant lightning storms. Also they have good customer service with real people. Also FUCK THE MONOPOLIZING CRAPITALISTS THAT ARE COMCAST!!!

yes and no. The customer service is better. Packages and lineup are about the same. They're pretty strategic about splitting up channels to get you to buy more channel lineups. If purely internet because I'm not reading the data integrity is better. I have the 35/35 plan and even on a Friday night I regularly pull 32mbps. Unless your bitcoin farming or hoasting servers 35 is more than enough.

So much better. I have Comcast at school and at my lady friends they have Fios, the difference is night and day for me.

It's funny. I called them for customer service for existing customers. I was put on hold for 15 minutes. They had my last digits of my social security f'ed up so I couldn't access my account. I called them later with my exact total from my last bill to access my account. I decided to call hit the extension for those looking to get Comcast. I was immediately connected to a person.

They suck.

My FiOS has gone down once in maybe 5 years now of having it. And even then, it only went down because the ONT power supply failed. Technician came within 2 days. While he was at my house, although it wasn't on the work order, he also replaced a set top box that exhibited more lag than the first production version of MyFord Touch.

FiOS is awesome.

Maybe enough for you. I neither host servers or bitcoin but I absolutely love downloading crap at 12-15MB/s

I thought about dropping my plan down to the 15 but the savings were minimal. So 35 it is.

Verizon FIOS has been great for my family. Over the last 7 years between Florida/Maryland actual downtime has been about 10 hours total. With no dataplan caps and cheapness of internet speeds we upgraded to FIOS quantum and went for 300/60. As long time subscribers we were upgraded to 300/300MB for free. There are a few issues to contend with though- DVR has gotten better but still a long away from TIVO. Have had issue with updates on DVR that have bricked 3 DVR (still angry- lost lots of recordings- i know i should have watched them instead). Tech Support wise they are competent and nice. Per my wife- billing can be a pain sometimes get double charged.

Mind the capital B for byte, not lower case b for bit ;-) Megabytes per second.

For some reason I can't edit out a mistake I made in that sentence. Neither goes with nor instead of not. I'm not sure why that slipped my mind.
