Seriously. Ours is 16 years old, and it's been beaten like hell. The worst moments happened when we dropped a CRT television on it and most recently it was dragged off the table and onto the ground from a panicking dog. The thing still fucking works.
Seriously.
WTF Microsoft.

Everything is more fragile now, not just the Xbox, lol. Cars, phones, TV's, vacuums...this list could easily keep going on.

As a counter argument, my launch day 360 still works while all the N64s among my friends are useless as they can't read their cartridges anymore.

I had an original Xbox fry, had three 360s RROD and a fourth have an optical drive failure out of warranty. My PS3 Slim has hinted at having problems but it's held out. Technology is sooooo advanced these days.

Rebutal: I've gone through two Xbox 360s, both of which couldn't be repaired.

I had... three? four? of the first gen 360s, all went RRoD. I bought the newer version of the 360 (the Knect-capable one) and it's been invincible. Amazing what happens when they don't cheap out on the solder.

Too bad they didn't build the joysticks that well.

The N64 was all solid state; no delicate mechanics or spinny doo-dads.
The X360 on the other hand was mechanically sound, but it was prone to overheating. That's what I remember of the RROD debacle anyway.

I've had graphics and a disk drive go bad on my 360s. The RRODs were easy fixes, just needed new heat sink compound.

The PS3 was definitely more reliable then the 360, but it is possible to mess one up regardless.

I still have my brother's N64 he got brand new back in Christmas of 1996. It's moved to four different states and then back, and it still functions (nearly) flawlessly!

An N64 froze its ass up for good after somebody dropped a controller onto it at a new year's party a few years back. We were playing Mario Party. Yeah, I dunno either.
Solid little boxes otherwise. My Atari 2600 Jr. still works as well. NES on the other hand...
