Because there is no better feeling than to feel like the Queen in the 80's....oh wait. The V8 isn't so bad (mine would have at max 60k miles) and if it breaks down I can hide inside it and laugh at the pesky robbers trying to get my 1992 Breitling.

Step One: air bag to coil swap.
Step Two: Drive!

Guy just had new airbags installed, when they go kaputt, coils.

It could also be a high mileage S8, so there's that

Nice. A guy at work has a third gen Range Rover and his airbags are always causing problems. He doesn't want to do a coil swap though. I guess $400 every couple months for new airbags isn't a big deal to him?

Exactly 11,808.75 dollars (I'm in south america). It will either be that or a D2 S8 (not armored unfortunately).

I should stop calling it the P38.

Heck no, don't stop calling it that.

Would the S8 also be armored?

"I'm going to warm up the P38" is something I look forward to saying.

Sadly no, couldn't find an armored one. EDIT: I FOUND ONE.

I guess he just doesn't want to miss out on the best part about a Rangie.

Also 47k miles.

On the Audi? Shit, that's a no-brainer.

11k for the Rangie and 17k for the S8. The plan was to have extra cash to fix the inevitable little problems, but 47k isn't problem territory. Or is it?

I have 120k on mine. So far, no issue. You should be okay, but don't be under the illusion it will be a Toyota Camry to maintain. It will probably be cheaper than the Rover or your C5 (not sure on the C5) but still.

The problem is finding parts for it, most of them (if not all) will have to be imported from faraway lands and I'll have the wonderful 100% tax on imported goods. I need to check service records and suspension on both cars, they need to be spotless.

The good news is, the S8 has old fashion coils, not air shocks.

Old armor plating is really heavy, I was under the assumption the suspension on a SUV would handle the extra weight better than a fast luxobarge. I may be completely wrong.

I have no idea. But the S8 isn't armored, so it should be fine?
My citroen won't start
> sm70- why not Duesenberg?
12/27/2014 at 13:44 | 0 |
It should, but now that I found a bulletproof one with only 47k miles, the other one with almost 60k, no armoring and higher price doesn't seem like a good idea.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?
> My citroen won't start
12/27/2014 at 13:45 | 0 |
Oh you found a bulletproof S8? Sorry I misunderstood.
I know armoring a car puts much higher wear on all the components. Whether or not an old S8 could hold up to that, or whether anything else has likely been upgraded to compensate, I don't know.

Yeah, this one to be exact: http://www.webmotors.com.br/comprar/8/1135… (there's nothing worth translating)
Those are things I need to check and am also not sure of.

There is no reason to remove the air suspension. It works very well, and provided you stay away from the dealer, it is not expensive to maintain. You need to replace all the 0-rings every 8-10 years or so ($50+ a Saturday), and new bags are ~$100 each when the time comes. In return, you have a truck that actually handles well, and has a deployable on demand 4" lift kit.

Fuck it. Just go for it! If I haven't already talked you out of it I never will. And what you're looking at is probably the best you could hope for.
